Women can be heroes. When twenty-year-old nursing student Frances “Frankie” McGrath hears these words, it is a revelation. Raised in the sun-drenched, idyllic world of Southern California and sheltered by her conservative parents, she has always prided herself on doing the right thing. But in 1965, the world is changing, and she suddenly dares to imagine a different future for herself. When her brother ships out to serve in Vietnam, she joins the Army Nurse Corps and follows his path.

It took me there !
Revisado: 03-01-24
Oh wow .. I don’t know where to start. The story over all was great beyond words to describe ! I felt like I was there with Frankie ,Barb , and Ethel. I felt the laughter and pain . I felt the heartbreak that Frankie endured and just wanted someone to please help her ! I was mad and still mad at Frye ! How could he ? Her best friends , wow ! Could you ever ask for better ? These ladies had a true love for one another friendship ! A bond forever . I was mad at her parents for not being what she so needed and that was for them to help her be proud of her and show some damn compassion. When she finally found her self on her ranch and started helping others like her I knew she was ok . Maybe that was her direction after all just needed to hit rock bottom . And I didn’t want the story to end at the wall with Jamie ! I didn’t see that coming and I’m so glad they found one another again . This book this story has been the best story I have ever read/ listened to. The narration of the story was so good . Julia Whelan you were spot on ! I could feel Frankie in your voice ! 10,000💫💫💫

My hometown Gantt, AL / Gantt Lake
Revisado: 12-14-21
As always I loved the storyline of Grisham’s books, but this one hit a home run with me.. traveling thru Crestview to the Conecuh forest then to Andalusia , Antioch and the beautiful Gantt Lake .. I could close my eyes and see The judge traveling our roads and see Jeri in a remote cabin on the lake ! I am also the Mayor of the Town of Gantt ! So this is just cool !! Now to wait for the next great one !!

Historia
Detective Dave Robicheaux’s world isn’t filled with too many happy stories, but Desmond Cormier’s rags-to-riches tale is certainly one of them. Robicheaux first met Cormier on the streets of New Orleans, when the young, undersized boy had foolish dreams of becoming a Hollywood director. Twenty-five years later, when Robicheaux knocks on Cormier’s door, it's to ask about a young woman he found who’s been crucified. She disappeared near Cormier’s Cyrpemort Point estate, and Robicheaux, along with young Deputy Sean McClain, are looking for answers.

Another Dave and Clete hoo-ra!!
Revisado: 03-04-19
This is another GREAT one by Mr. Burke !! His tales and words describing the back drops of his stories are so impelling and I feel like Dave and Clete are my family ! I’m always on the edge or even laughing with the dialect! Just hurry up and write another one Mr. Burke !!
