Historia
At 16, Sadie Young had a brush with death, and as a result she became more sensitive to the supernatural. Rather than embrace this gift, she spent years running from it, and from the darkness that once preyed upon her. Now 25 and working as a librarian, Sadie is called upon by a desperate family friend to look into a strange series of events. A teenaged girl has entered a reputedly haunted house in town and has gone mad. Committed, the girl attempts suicide and claims to be terrorized at all hours by a horrific specter known as "Mother Maggot".

“Liberry”???
Revisado: 10-11-22
I tried so hard to get around the grown adult narrator, with a very adult voice and mature speaking patterns pronouncing library as “liberry” I probably could have overlooked it if the main character were not a “liberrian”, because hearing it over and over again was annoying and took away from the book. I finally had to return it.

Historia
Dark, powerful forces, willing to stop at nothing. A conspiracy deep-rooted throughout our institutions. A cyber attack. An EMP. Drone warfare. Americans caught in the crosshairs. Doomsday had begun. Author Bobby Akart once again masterfully tells a tale of a nation on the edge of societal collapse. For decades, Americans had found themselves increasingly at odds with one another - politically, socially, and culturally.

Politically biased, preachy, anti-liberal.....
Revisado: 05-08-20
I loved the Yellowstone series, and the first Doomsday book was good, but had a somewhat pro-Trump preachiness. But this one is way too much for me. I got as far as when the leader of the Haven was not sure about allowing a family to live on the compound because they drive a Subaru, and I had to stop. Apparently, according to this book, if you drive a Subaru, you are a "tree-hugging liberal". OMG. So, thanks, but no thanks. But the narrator is perfect!

Historia
Midnight in Savannah... It’s a city of beauty, history…hauntings. And one of the most haunted places in Savannah is a tavern called The Dragonslayer, built in the 1750s. The current owner, Gus Anderson, is a descendant of the original innkeeper and his pirate brother, Blue. Gus summons his granddaughter, Abigail, home from Virginia, where she’s studying at the FBI Academy. When she arrives, she’s devastated to find him dead. Murdered. But Abby soon learns that Gus isn’t the only one to meet a brutal and untimely end; there’ve been at least two other victims.

Really fun read, except...
Revisado: 06-05-16
Would you listen to The Night Is Alive again? Why?
Probably not, and for just one reason. I'm not sure if this is the author's fault, or the narrator's fault, but there is this one thing that I keep seeing in Heather Graham's books. And I want to scream, "for the love of GOD, please stop having educated southern men pronounce the word 'situation' as "sitchy-ashun"! I live in Texas, and have my entire life, and of course I'm acquainted with many southern men. I don't remember ever hearing any man pronounce that word in that way.
Did Luke Daniels do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
Yes, he does a great job with differentiating the characters. But i have noticed that the character Will Chan sounds different in every book.

Worst narrator ever.
Revisado: 08-18-13
What disappointed you about The Last Kiss Goodbye?
This narrator is the worst one I've ever listened to. The southern accents make me want to poke out my own eardrums. I thought the book would be so good, but I just could NOT tolerate the narrator. Especially horrendous was the voice she used for a teenage girl...she sounded exactly like the teenage girl from the cartoon King of the Hill. And when she is trying to sound like the southern man, it is worse than fingernails down a chalkboard. Mostly it made me laugh, but I'm pretty sure this is not the reaction expected from the author. UGH.
Would you be willing to try another book from Karen Robards? Why or why not?
I would, but a different performer would be a must.
How could the performance have been better?
Less ridiculous emotion, and the southern accents have to GO
