Thrilling side story of King Whitson and company!

I’ve always loved last names or family names and where they come from. The author does, too, and shows the links from our past to our present through the tales. Having grown up without a father, I’m always drawn to a writer with a fatherly voice. George MacDonald has that voice as well as Kenneth E. Bailey. S.D. Smith has it, too. Gently guiding the characters with beautiful encouragement. And we finally see the link in this story to the mention of Lander’s Dragons from the Ember tales.

I love this adventure series!

Heather and Picket continue the work toward the mended wood, but the evil is great and requires much from them. They are young but wise, pressed but fearless, hurt but loved. The dark is great but makes for a glorious light!
