Historia
The small town of Harrod’s Reach has seen its fair share of the macabre, especially inside the decrepit old train tunnel around which the town was built. After a young boy, Sully Dupree, is injured in the abandoned tunnel and left in a coma, the townspeople are determined to wall it up. Deputy sheriff Beth Gardner is reluctant to buy into the superstitions until she finds two corpses at the tunnel’s entrance, each left with strange calling cards inscribed with old lullabies. Soon after, Sully Dupree briefly awakens from his coma.

Fantastic! Finally a book that doesn’t read like every other horror novel out there!
Revisado: 07-21-24
I loved it! I basically listened to it nonstop from start to finish. If you’re like me you’ve read so many horror novels they all seem to run together. Not this one! Unique and new premise that I’ve not read before or seen in any movie. I Can’t wait for the next one!

Transferred to the coastal town of Merit, police officer Leonard Riker uncovers the horrible reality of an enormous thresher shark lurking off the coast. Forty feet in length, it has taken a territorial claim to the waters near the town harbor.

Historia
It was a legend in Fear County. A hideous, flesh-eating creature - part snake, part earthbound demon - that feasted on the blood of innocent children in the cold black heart of the Tennessee backwoods. But 10-year-old Jeb Sweeny knows the horrible stories are true. His best friend Mandy just disappeared. He also knows that no one has ever had the courage to go after the monster and put an end to its raging, bestial hunger. Until now.

Historia
Welcome to Babylon, a typical sleepy Alabama small town, where years earlier the Larkin family suffered a terrible tragedy. Now they are about to endure another: 14-year-old Margaret Larkin will be robbed of her innocence and her life by a killer who is beyond the reach of the law. But something strange is happening in Babylon: traffic lights flash an eerie blue, a ghostly hand slithers from the drain of a kitchen sink, graves erupt from the local cemetery in an implacable march of terror.

Unlike any horror you’ve read.
Revisado: 10-20-19
If you are like me you love a great horror book but, sometimes it’s hard to find one that isn’t along the same themes and ideas you’ve heard told over and over with your favorite horror authors. This one was different. A new twist on heaven and hell, God and the devil. I enjoyed it thoroughly!

I absolutely adored it!
It ran a little long towards the ending of the book and I wished the "gifts" were delved into a bit more but the story was excellent! Top notch narrator! The best I have yet to hear in the southern Gothic genre.
Thoroughly enjoyed it!!!

Historia
In this sweeping, threaded narrative of the global phenomenon known as the Vampire Wars, mankind is unwittingly infected by a millennia-old bacteria unknowingly exhumed by a scientific expedition in Antarctica. Now, in some rare cases, a person’s so-called junk DNA becomes activated. Depending on their racial and ethnic heritage, they begin to manifest one of the many diverse forms of the "others" that are the true basis for the legends of supernatural creatures. These aren’t your usual vampires and werewolves - it goes much deeper than that.

Good Read if you like short stories
Revisado: 07-15-18
I enjoyed the book very much but did not realize it was several short stories that would pick up and end periodically throughout the read. Perhaps I should have with "Chronicle" in the title. There is a beginning to each story, a middle, but rarely a satisfying ending. Great if you love short stories that leave you to use your imagination for the ending..not so much if you prefer a book with a conclusion.

Gret follow up book to The Passage
Revisado: 03-25-16
What did you love best about The Twelve: A Novel?
Oftentimes a trilogy book visits the same characters over and over. I loved that we did that in this book but were also introduced to new characters. It allowed for a wider visualization of the world in which they were all living in.
What other book might you compare The Twelve: A Novel to and why?
In some ways it reminded me of The Stand. Not in the horror genre but in that you were seeing how day to day lives were affected by a catastrophe that was/is beyond ones control and the strength required to master it.
What does Scott Brick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Great narrator! His voice is easy to listen to and had great syntax, energy, and heart.
If you could rename The Twelve: A Novel, what would you call it?
Searching
Any additional comments?
Great read! It is a long book but carried its own weight throughout. Personally I love the long books as you truly get your moneys worth in hours. I was never bored and it definitely did not drag on. It was over before I knew it...in a good way. I will move on to book three as soon as possible.
