Excellent
Revisado: 12-09-24
I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish. It had me hooked right from the beginning. Although fictional, it authentically told the story of what happened to poor, black women in the early 70s.

Abrupt Ending
Revisado: 11-04-24
Bahni Turpin’s narration is excellent as always! The book has a very abrupt ending, which would be okay if the sequel was actually available, but it is not. I would like to know the rest of the tale. I listened to the first four chapters, but what happened after that? We’ll never know.

Amazing Book
Revisado: 08-31-24
Although difficult to deal with emotionally at times, this was one of the best books I’ve read this year (so far 75). It captures the emotions of Lavinia and Belle as they face the effects of one of the most shameful times in our history. Yet, it is not all without hope. Outstanding writing and narration. Highly recommend.

Great Historical Fiction
Revisado: 08-03-24
I loved this book and the narration! Women, we are so fortunate to be alive in the world of today! Imagine not being able to do simple things like take a walk by yourself or the more complicated things like going to college. This is such a great (partially true, partially fictional) account of what it was like for one young woman who simply wanted to serve her country during the American Revolution.

Very moving and beautifully written
Revisado: 07-28-24
This book should be required reading for all high school students. Lily paints a vivid picture of life in the concentration camp and the difficult days of recovery after the war. I learned about Lily and Dov after October 7th 2023 and I have so much respect for this amazing woman. Thank you, Dov, for encouraging her to share her story on the internet and for helping her to navigate through it. Bravo, Lily!!! Bravo! Yours has been and continues to be a life very well lived. 💙🤍💙

Very good, not the best in the series
Revisado: 07-25-24
This was a very good book, but was definitely my least favorite of the three in the series. The reader who represented Eliza was just over the top (in a “too much” kind of way). I just wasn’t as invested in the characters in this book as the others.

Great story
Revisado: 04-17-24
This was a very informative and captivating story about a part of the war that I was really not familiar with. Listen to the postscripts at the end of the story because you will learn a lot about what is true in the story (a lot). The narrator was just a little “over done” as far as intonation and emphasis, but I got used to it.
