Historia
An early architect of punk rock's sound, style, and fury, whose lip-curling sneer and fist-pumping persona vaulted him into pop's mainstream as one of MTV's first megastars, Billy Idol remains, to this day, a true rock 'n' roll icon. Now, in his long-awaited autobiography, Dancing with Myself, Idol delivers an electric, searingly honest account of his journey to fame - from his early days as front man of the pioneering UK punk band Generation X to the decadent life atop the dance-rock kingdom he ruled.

AMAZING story
Revisado: 05-10-11
I grabbed this one as a last second deal, and glad I did. The fact that it's a true story made it worthwhile. Just to get the perspective of an educated Jewish woman during the war was eyeopening, especially for a non-Jew.

Historia
The beloved New York Times best seller from acclaimed author Eleanor Brown about three sisters who love each other, but just don't happen to like each other very much. Three sisters have returned to their childhood home, reuniting the eccentric Andreas family. Here, books are a passion (there is no problem a library card can't solve) and TV is something other people watch. Their father - a professor of Shakespeare who speaks almost exclusively in verse - named them after the Bard's heroines. It's a lot to live up to.

Took awhile to get into but worth it
Revisado: 05-10-11
I understand why one reviewer would say it's geared toward teenagers except for the mothers perspective and depth of loss would be too much for a younger person to relate to. It took a bit to get into, but the author takes her time to develop the intricacies and inner turmoils of the relationships with the characters so once the true drama begins you are so familiar with them that it was worth going thru.

Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: Seabiscuit was a runaway success, and Hillenbrand’s done it again with another true-life account about beating unbelievable odds. On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared....

A-MA-ZING!!!!
Revisado: 03-14-11
I was a it apprehensive about this book because it was a war story, and I thought it was a novel, I had no idea going into it (or until half way through) that it was a true story! It seemed so factual that I had to google Zamperini to see if it was true. This story is so amazing, showing the true strength of the human soul - that I couldn't get it out of my head. This would make an amazing movie.

For Emilia Greenleaf, life is by turns a comedy of errors and an emotional minefield. Yes, she's a Harvard Law grad who married her soul mate. Yes, they live in elegant comfort on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. But with her one-and-only, Jack, came a stepson, a know-it-all preschooler named William who has become her number one responsibility every Wednesday afternoon.

Good story
Revisado: 02-03-11
This was a good story about marriage and motherhood, especially for us neurotic women - gave me something to relate to. The story was very good but some of the bits became rambling, but they helped to define the idiosyncrasies of the characters so they we worth getting thought most times.

Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.

Fantastic story and amazing narrator
Revisado: 02-03-11
I was son enraptured with this story i constantly found myself daydreaming about the circus and looking forward to getting in may car every chance I could to listen. And I was sad when it was over, I wanted it to go on forever. The story was unique and intense and the narrator for young Jacob was amazing and made it riveting. He did the characters such justice that the actors for the upcoming film have big shoes to fill (especially Robert Pattinson, I don't have much faith that he can pull it off).

Historia
Well, 1983 certainly wasn't boring for the Welch family. Somehow, between their handsome father's mysterious death, their glamorous soap-opera-star mother's cancer diagnosis, and a phalanx of lawyers intent on bankruptcy proceedings, the four Welch siblings managed to handle each new heartbreaking misfortune in the same way they dealt with the unexpected arrival of the forgotten-about Chilean exchange student—together.

Wonderful story of family bond
Revisado: 01-11-11
This story is an emotional roller coaster and extremely well executed with the multiple narrators. I found my self crying, laughing or gasping thorough most of the story. I just wish there was more of a "where are they now" final chapter.
