Historia
It was 1953, and nothing could shake William Denning’s resolve to leave the army and return to the States. Nothing, except one of the largest diamond hauls ever—which, in the wrong hands, on the wrong side of the Iron Curtain, was a potentially lethal force. In a small village in the Swiss mountains, Denning discovered that there was not only a jewelry robbery at stake. In the ruthless world of espionage and international conspiracy, his adversaries were the most unlikely people—and the most dangerous.

I love this author
Revisado: 02-25-23
This is an excellent story by the author. The reader, though...sometimes he has a fake oriental accent, instead of a Swiss or German one, and his mispronounciation of German words really bugs me.

Historia
Just another routine overseas assignment. That’s what successful young New York architect Ken Strang thought when a national travel magazine sent him to Europe to sketch Greek ruins. What he did not know, until it was too late, was that from the moment he boarded the ship, he had become the pawn in a murderous game of international intrigue. To Strang, danger was no object. He could take care of himself, but he had reckoned without Cecilia, his beautiful photographer. When he fell in love with her, he gave his enemies the one weapon they needed.

Great story by my favorite author

I'm still listening to the story, which is very good. The reader mispronounces words, which really bugs me. And his fake accents are suspect at best.

Historia
He stared at the unfamiliar watch on his wrist. Three hours ago, he had stood on English soil. Three hours ago, he had been Martin Hearne, British Intelligence agent. Now he was in Nazi-occupied Brittany, posing as Bertrand Corlay, with the Frenchman’s life reduced to headings in his memory. Hearne looked down at the faded uniform, which had once been Corlay’s, felt once more for the papers in the inside pocket. He was ready. From now on, he was one step away from death.

Historia
It is 1940 and William, 12, Edmund, 11, and Anna, nine, aren't terribly upset by the death of the not-so-grandmotherly grandmother who has taken care of them since their parents died. But the children do need a guardian, and in the dark days of World War II London, those are in short supply, especially if they hope to stay together. Could the mass wartime evacuation of children from London to the countryside be the answer?

One of the best stories I've listened to! Good to learn more about children who were evacuated from London during the war, and the reader did a super job.

Historia
At 63, Maxie is cruising down the Alaska Highway in her brand-new Winnebago. She's always been a gypsy at heart, and with her mini-dachshund at her side, and the open road ahead, she's never been happier. But before her exploration of the Lower 48 gets underway, Maxie needs to figure out who burglarized her friend's Colorado home, and why. But the closer Maxie gets to solving the puzzle, the more it becomes chillingly clear that her friend's life isn't the only one on the line.

Many place and street names mispronounced. Jarring for a local. Surely, it can't be that hard to learn the pronunciations for an area specific story!

Is it too much to ask that stories taking place in England, yet having American and Canadian characters, get the accents correct when read about? One would think we all talk with a Midwest/NY accent.
