This is definitely the way to begin a new book and series. There is an abundance of background information for both the story line and the characters. I read the book as I listened to the Audible. They were different in some ways, but the changes made sense in the Audible version.

Virdi Einskis is an annoying (but handsome) dragon shifter...and a bit of a manwhore!
The adventures and excitement start off with a bang, and continue throughout the story.

I Love reading each and every one of the books in this series, but it is nice to listen to it being read while I'm busy doing some work that I probably otherwise wouldn't get completed. Beth Roeg does a wonderful job narrating the story, I highly recommend listening!

This novella is a good start to a story, but definitely only the first part, as you can no doubt guess from the length of it. The characters are mostly believable, the female fluctuates a bit to much between strong and intelligent, into easily influenced. (And sometimes...just easy! LOL) The story is a fast paced, quick read.

Great story as usual, but I do wish there was a bit more story and a bit less sex. I love Christine's books/series, and have read or listened to all of them. I just received the Audible edition off Dark Illusion! Can't wait! The performance by Jim Frangione was perfection.

An amazing, exciting, gritty tale as usual
I have loved all Christine Feehan's stories. The chemistry between the charismatic characters is off the charts. There is always so much turmoil and so many twists in her stories it is impossible not to be drawn into them totally!
