Men suck. They break you. Leave you. Take everything until there's nothing left. And frankly, I'm done allowing them to make me feel insignificant. So, forget men. I'll just throw myself into my job, because at least that never fails me. Jackson has other plans, though. I refuse to be impressed by his perfect body, the cute dimple on his cheek, or the rugged stubble on his face. Jackson Cole can be resisted. But, I'm only fooling myself. He's going to wear me down. I can feel it. In the end he'll prove that once again, I'm no one's beloved.

total melodrama
Revisado: 02-28-22
This book was so disappointing! At first it caught my interest. but then I was sorry. it was just one melodrama after the next. and, it does not end. there is no conclusion at the end, before the next story. however, if you like a lot of hot sex, you may enjoy it. plus lots of foul language.

James A. Michener's masterly chronicle of South Africa is an epic tale of adventurers, scoundrels, and ministers, the best and worst of two continents, who carve an empire out of a vast wilderness. From the Java-born Van Doorn family tree springs two great branches: one nurtures lush vineyards, the other settles the interior to become the first Trekboers and Afrikaners.

great!
Revisado: 10-15-18
I thought this book was wonderful. And, believe it or not, I really like the narration. I just really like that reader. I don't like a lot of fancy stuff with narration. This guy is great. And so is the story.

This was a good book, IMHO, though not great. The story was interesting the way all the characters' lives dovetailed into each other. It flowed along nicely, and was an interesting listen. Well written.

Captivating
Revisado: 01-09-13
I love this book; I've listened to it a couple of times now; and will again sometime. It is in the typical style of Jamie Langston Turner in being quite wordy, and a Christian novel....so you have to be ok with that. But! the narration is great! I was rolling in my seat laughing half the time!. Then, watching the unfolding of "Margaret Tuttle," usually from right within her own thought processes, was amazing. I adore the sweet way Jamie allows the unfolding of Margaret's heart opening after an extremely painful early life. Beautifully done. I heartily recommend this book.

A certain Style
Revisado: 01-09-13
Jamie has a certain style of writing; and you either like it or you don't. This is not my favorite book by her; but it was nice. Jamie is very "wordy" and not a lot of action. I enjoy her a lot, because I like the various twists and turns the character's thought processes take. It has quite a cute "fairy tale" ending. Of course, it's considered an "inspirational novel" in that it is guided by the teachings of Jesus and how they can shape your life. If you're ok with that, and enjoy wordy thought processes; give it a listen.

Inspiring! Funny!
Revisado: 02-16-12
I just loved this book. The narrator, Danielle Ferland, was absolutely perfect. To enjoy this book; you have to let go of judgment of the times; and just appreciate the wonderful Essie, the heroine, and her path to her own liberation. And, liberation does come in the end; as she learns to trust in her inner knowing (call it what you will). Though it is written in the spirit of Christianity, you can use your own spiritual path to rejoice in Essie's finding and trusting her inner voice. The ending is awesome!

Unique
Revisado: 09-03-11
Jamie (the author) definately has her own unique style of writing! If you like fast-paced stories that move along...don't order this.
This tells of a woman who is writing a journal about the unfolding of a major event in her life, and how God orchestrated this to teach her to love. The woman's journaling jumps around a LOT. But it all comes together in the end.
I really enjoyed it....the creativity and uniqueness of the telling was refreshing. I just flowed along with it. I especially loved the ending, because it involved the movie "Babette's Feast," one of my favorite flicks.
So, only you can decide if it is right for you. Good luck..

Revisado: 09-03-11
I really enjoyed this book. I'm just chuckling, thinking about it. The story is very creative....not fast-paced, but fasinating. It has an incredible plot to it, skips around a lot, but it all comes together. It has such interesting information about animals in it....and human nature....and religion. I highly recommend it. I must warn you, it has a bunch of gross parts in it. This is definately a well-rounded book.
