Historia
Many are the sagas of Leman Russ, Lord of Winter and War, most fearsome of the Emperor's primarch sons. At the height of the Great Crusade, his Space Wolves fight to bring the rebel world of Dulan to compliance. Enraged by the defiance of the tyrant Durath, Russ has pledged to strike him down personally - but his brother Lion El'Jonson of the Dark Angels advises more caution. With the might of two Legions arrayed against Durath, tensions nevertheless run high, and the rivalry between the Wolf and the Lion threatens to engulf them all.

Good, solid Primarch book
Revisado: 11-25-22
Better than most Primarch books but not the best. The story details more about the animosity between the Wolves and the Dark Angels, a siege against a defiant world during the Great Crusade as it's backdrop.
Gives more character to the insights of Russ during such times, further amplifying that he is more than a peerless warrior, but a deep thinker and mindful leader. Also an empathetic, humble one at that too. All true Wolf fans owe it to themselves to read this one, better to understand that the Wolves are more than just boastful barbarians clad in ceramite, but capable of regretful choices too.

Historia
Vulkan lies in state beneath the Fortress of Hera, and yet many of his sons still refuse to believe that he is truly dead. After a seemingly miraculous rescue by the Ultramarines, Artellus Numeon, once captain of the Pyre Guard, urges the other Salamanders on Macragge to leave Imperium Secundus and return their primarch's body to the home world of Nocturne - there to be reborn in the flames of Mount Deathfire.

TLDR: Only for Salamanders fans. Otherwise skip.
Revisado: 08-08-22
Quite slow for roughly the first 3/4th's of the book, even if you're a Salamanders fan like me. I almost stopped entirely and read spoilers so I could move on. But things started to pick up and become intriguing. The last 1/4th of the book does well to wrap everything up and there are some cool moments towards the end.
IMO, unless you're a Salamanders fan, skip this one. You're not missing much at all.
The narrator is quite unmoving and not as energetic. Makes for a very slow, unimpressive story that sells Nick Kyme's abilities short.

Historia
Each primarch is an exemplary being, derived from the Emperor’s own genetic stock to embody a facet of His personality. Their powers are unfathomable, but only one of them is the First. Lion El’Jonson is the paragon of what it is to be a primarch. His Legion, pre-eminent for most of their long history, typify the virtues of temperance, pride and martial excellency that the Lion embodies. They are the Emperor’s last line and final sanction. They are His Dark Angels.

Historia
Of all the Emperor’s sons who fell to Chaos, it is perhaps Magnus the Red whose tale is the most tragic. Sanctioned because of his desire for knowledge, chastised, judged, and shattered to his very elements – there is much for the Crimson King to feel vengeful for. Yet revenge is not the only thing that draws him to Terra alongside the Warmaster’s besieging armies. He seeks something, a fragment, the missing piece of himself that lies within the most impregnable place on the planet – the inner sanctum of the Imperial Palace.

Historia
Of all the Emperor’s immortal sons, the primarchs, it is Konrad Curze whose legend is the darkest. Born in the shadows of Nostramo, a world of murderers, thieves and worse, is it any surprise that he became the figure of dread known only as the Night Haunter? Heed now the tragic story of the creature Konrad Curze, master of the Night Lords Legion, of how he became a monster and a weapon of terror. He who once served the Imperium saw the truth in a maddening universe and the hypocrisy of a loveless father, and embraced the only thing that made any sense - darkness.

Revisado: 12-19-19
Unlike many of the Horus Heresy novels, this tale depicts the mind, motivations, and intrinsic catalysts of Kontsd Curze, Primarch to the 8th Legiones Astartes, the Nigh Lords.
If you are a fan of the stories of Primarchs, you are in for a real treat. The tale balances back and forth between the demise of Curze, various moments of his upbringing on Nostramo, and as leader of the 8th legion. This tale lends credit to how and why he was so crazy as depicted in other mentioning.
This is one of the few HH novels that reads more akin to a horror tale instead of a grand adventure. It is further enhanced by some of the best voice acting I've ever heard.

Historia
Born to a life of political conflict, Perturabo was always considered a child prodigy among the people of Olympia - indeed, his philosophical and scientific works were beyond compare. But then, after his rediscovery by the Emperor and decades of thankless military campaigning on the Great Crusade, the primarch begins to resent his Legion's place in the Imperium.

The Indomitable, the Unrelenting, the Lord of Iron
Revisado: 12-04-18
Great, short 30k piece to better understand the Primarch of the 4th Legiones Astartes. The author gives you a great idea of the life and conquest of Olympia through Perturabos eyes while at the same time telling of the 4th's efforts against a gigantic invasion of Hrud. The climatic last third of the novel depicts the news of and punishment against the rebellion of Olympia. The greatest enjoyment is the ebb and flow of Perturabo's behavior and character as he grows and lear s what it means to be a Primarch, both as an Olympian youth and leader of Astartes. As with all traitor Primarchs, this story gives insight of the flaws of such wonderous, perfect leaders and this novel leaves you with a brilliant ending to close the story of the tragedy of Perturabo.

Best for Vlka Fenryka
Revisado: 11-14-18
Burning of Prospero was ok compared to this great tale of the Vlka Fenryka. It takes place soon after Prospero and the story focuses on a few specific Wolves but mostly a side to Russ that is necessary to truly understand the honor of the Legion. A lack of action in the first half is made up by the multitude of important characters from other novels. The action of the second half is very exciting and well written.

Unaware of the wider Heresy and following the Warmaster's increasingly cryptic orders, Roboute Guilliman returns to Ultramar to muster his Legion for war against the orks massing in the Veridian system. Without warning, their supposed allies in the Word Bearers Legion launch a devastating invasion of Calth, scattering the Ultramarines fleet and slaughtering all who stand in their way. One of the top 5 HH stories to read. You could argue this is another, great "Beginning" of the HH novels as it's the starting point of the Ultramarines induction into the war. Brilliant pacing, great climax, and awesome ending.
