Wonderful story...

...but all the different names and places confused me to no end. I also found the last scene very disturbing. However, I will try the next book as well.

At first I couldn't understand why the narrator was male, but it did make sense after a while. He did a good job with all the different voices.

Best listening experience this year

This is, without a doubt, the funniest book I've listened to this year. Full of quirky characters (all of them) and a lot of monologuing villains. Also, the introduction of Kevin... Hilarious!

Buy it and have a laugh (more like a hundred), it's worth more than one credit.

A joy to listen to

Do yourself a favour and listen to this book. It is fantastic! Both the story itself and the narrators. MCs are teenagers, however, I don't think you should let that put you off if you're older. It left me with the most wonderful feeling deep inside.

This is one of the best books I've listened to so far this year.

Not that good

I was a bit disapointed in this book. I have read other books from this author that I really enjoyed, but there was something missing in this one. I never connected to the MCs, not even sure if I liked them at all. The characters were looking back on events, and that made the story a bit unpolished and rushed, like when you remember the main events in a dream but not not the details.

I'll be sure to try out some of the other books from this author, but this one wasn't for me.

Good book, bad recording

I almost didn't buy this book because of the bad sound quality. The whole recording is very tinny sounding and crackles a bit. Also, even though the narrator has a good voice, he reads way to slow. I had to speed it up to 1,25.

The story is good, and that does, incredibly enough, make up for the bad recording. I like the nerdy mc and look forward to follow him and the other characters in the next book. I do hope the recording has improved in that one.

I hated both main characters

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Ones that can overlook the fact that the hero has the same view of women as most men had in the 19th century.

Any additional comments?

I should have read the title more closely- Reaper's PROPERTY. I hated the "hero" for treating the heroine like an object, but I think I hated her even more for accepting it. Sometimes I can overlook a bit of too much macho for a hot listen, but this just set my teeth on edge.

Will not keep this one

Usually I don't pick books that have been rated less than 4 stars, but I've previously enjoyed books by Damon Suede, and Charlie David's narrations are usually perfect. I also liked Bad idea where Scratch is a character.

Coming from that, here is what I think about Horn Gate:

It is messy, and at times difficult to understand and follow the thoughts and actions of the main character. I feel like I never got to know the characters and why they behaved the way they did. It certainly had enough action to make a short story interesting, but I was unable connect with the story itself and everyone in it. A bit of Hebrew was also thrown into the mix, which didn't make the plot easier to follow.

Charlie David has a really great voice. Why, oh why, was everything coming out of Scrath's mouth whispered? Not only was it at times hard to understand what he was saying, it made the whole listening experience bad.

Perhaps the written version is better? Or maybe this would have worked better as a full length novel instead of a 3 hour listen? I'm not sure what could have saved this, for me it just felt like a draft and not a finished story. Will keep looking for other things to listen to by this due, but will return this one.

Good entertainment...

Okay listen (Damon is hot!) but too much focus on Elena. Would have wished for Bonnie (or anyone else really) to shine some more. Don't like that Elena takes up all the space and seems to take for granted that she is the center of them all.

All five star reviewers have already said everything worth knowing about this book, the author and the narrator. Buy it, not only for the verbally armed heroine, but for all the other great characters in this book. Well written, greatly narrated and best in the series so far!

One dimensional

What could Christine Price have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I never understood how and why the social bonds formed between the "heros" of this story. There was no explenation, just boom! and there it was. All the characters felt one dimensional most of the time.This book should have been shorter, and then maybe it wouldn't have felt so empty of substance.

Jack LeFleur was good. Try A Reason to Believe instead.
