Historia
The practice of what is commonly known as hatha yoga is but one of eight branches of the body of knowledge that is yoga. Yoga is a sophisticated system of self-empowerment that is capable of harnessing and activating inner energies in such a way that your body and mind function at their optimal capacity. It is a means to create inner situations exactly the way you want them, turning you into the architect of your own joy. A yogi lives life in this expansive state, and in this transformative book Sadhguru tells the story of his own awakening.

For the True Seeker Who is Ready
Revisado: 08-22-23
This book is for those on the path who can receive the wisdom. So full of nourishment and peace. Not meant to be known just from reading but can help you discover what there is to embrace and let go of. Plenty of meditative material.

Historia
Stein on Writing provides immediately useful advice for writers of fiction and nonfiction, whether newcomers or accomplished professionals. As Sol Stein, renowned editor, author, and instructor, explains, "This is not a book of theory. It is a book of usable solutions, how to fix writing that is flawed, how to improve writing that is good, how to create interesting writing in the first place."

Essential Reading
Revisado: 06-20-23
A no-nonsense approach to writing from an accomplished editor. Probably my favorite book on the craft so far, Better than Bird by Bird in my opinion. With little to no fluff or filler, the suggestions for improving writing are specific and concrete. Fiction and non-fiction are each treated here which helps frame each as a specific form with a specific function. Would make a wonderful textbook for advanced writing study.

Great Story, Distracting Narration
Revisado: 06-20-23
The story is of course excellent. But, the narration.... all of the dialogue is sped through, the voices inconsistent and awkward, and he gives Nick a weird feminine voice.

The America we know today is so different in its fundamental views about almost every aspect of life as to be unrecognizable to our countrymen of two centuries ago. On issues as divergent as slavery, women's rights, education, the environment, and many others, we are simply no longer the country we were. What is the source of not only these changes, but of our distinctly American way of experiencing ourselves-confident in our value as individuals, certain of our ability to discover truths, self-reliant in the face of uncertainty and change?

Exceptional
Revisado: 05-20-23
This lecture is a broad, rich, thorough and thought-provoking treatment of such an important intellectual movement in human evolution. Grateful for access to this level of scholarship -- my only regret is not having had this material as part of my formal education earlier in life,

Historia
What does it mean when a fictional hero takes a journey? Shares a meal? Gets drenched in a sudden rain shower? Often, there is much more going on in a novel or poem than is readily visible on the surface - a symbol, maybe, that remains elusive, or an unexpected twist on a character - and there's that sneaking suspicion that the deeper meaning of a literary text keeps escaping you. In this practical and amusing guide to literature, Thomas C. Foster shows how easy and gratifying it is to unlock those hidden truths.

A party bus of literary theory
Revisado: 04-13-23
In case you ever thought that literature was boring, read this. It's perfect for writers, students and educators who didn't major in Lit, like myself. Also the reading selection is sumptuous. Foster samples from different vantages across the lit-sphere. He delivers a fine treatment to each on their own merit in relevant and entertaining ways. Showing how a single narrative detail nods to plethora of literary craftsmanship. Many readers will discover masterpieces and rediscover old faves. Readers interested in lit theory will benefit the most. The book takes an unabashed (yet tasteful) approach to subjects and authors that are controversial or polarizing outside of a strictly literary context. Triggers aside, it's a practical, adventurous guide for the 'pre-seasoned' reader.
