Historia
When linguist Andrew Dennison is yanked from his bed by the Secret Service and taken to a top secret facility in the desert, he has no idea he's been brought there to translate the words of an ancient demon. He joins pretty but cold veterinarian Sun Jones, eccentric molecular biologist Dr. Frank Belgium, and a hodge-podge of religious, military, and science personnel to try and figure out if the creature is, indeed, Satan. But things quickly go bad, and very soon Andy isn't just fighting for his life, but the lives of everyone on earth…

Not a technotriller
Revisado: 02-16-23
The book is described as a technotriller but is nothing of the sort. It has more religious talk than anything else. Be aware of this, because even if the idea of the book is not a bad one, if you purchase it for the technotriller part, you could be highly disappointed.
Luke Daniels is his genius self in his narration, that was the reason I finish this one.

Oh no, such a bad book
Revisado: 07-29-21
This is by far the worst book from Danielle Steel that I have read or listen to.
Danielle Steel is romance, I don't spect a life changing kind of book, but this was predictable and borring as nothing from her before.

Worst last book on a series
Revisado: 03-08-20
The wors last book in a series that I have read (or listened to).
The best way for me to describe this, for the first two books, was Hunger games meets Diverdent, not the most original ideas, but was 3 stars ok.
But for some reason the autor decided to introduce Matrix in this last book and the result is a confusing and poorly written book, where things just happen whitout context or explanation, just because they were needed for the next craziness...

Pretty good, could be better
Revisado: 08-11-14
I really like the concept and ideas in which the book is based, I think it is really a current subject and not entirely unbelievable, but quite possible that something like this could be considered a good idea in a not so distant future.
I was really happy about the book almost through all of it but the end. It ends up been as cliché as any other romance book, the end is too rush for my personal liking, and all the good in the book gets a little shadowed by that.
Even with it, I do think is a pretty good book, and would recommend it if someone else wants to read or listen to it.
The narration is a little slow for my liking, but again a played it at 1.25X the speed and turn out to be much better.

Historia
Emma wakes in a hospital, with no memory of what came before. Her husband, Declan, a powerful, seductive man, provides her with new memories, but her dreams contradict his stories, showing her a past life she can't believe possible: memories of war, of a camp where girls are trained to be wives, of love for another man. Something inside her tells her not to speak of this, but she does not know why. She only knows she is at war with herself. Suppressing those dreams during daylight hours, Emma lets Declan mold her into a happily married woman and begins to fall in love with him.

Great book!!
Revisado: 05-09-14
Wow, that’s what comes first to my mind when I was listening to this book. The way the plot unravels and I as a listener started to tie the strings of the story as is been reveal blew my mind all along.
More than suspense romance (which the book does have), I’ll say it's a Sci-Fi or Dystopian Fiction, but it's certainly a book that keeps you interested and entertain through it; can’t wait for the second book, Prototype, to be released.
Only down for me is the speed of the narrator, but fix it by setting my device speed at 1.25X and then it was perfect; hence the 4 stars in performance.

Not what I was expecting, but liked in the end
Revisado: 10-29-13
I have been struggling on what to write in my review for this book, since in the process of listening to it I got so many mix feelings from it: betrayal in the first third part of the book, hopeless in the second and heartbreaking in the last.
But at the end I had to embrace the believe that pretty endings are not always a requirement to get a good book: a good plot although totally different from the previous books is require and Allegiant has it, good characters that you can relate to and get to know and at some level to understand even better is require and Allegiant also has it, and the narrators for this book were amazing, both of them.
I honestly believe this book will be highly appreciated from the perspective of a more adult public than the YA usually is, given some more complex topics and the deepest thoughts and feelings and experiences the characters go throughout the story, so far away from what a younger me would have want for the book to be.
All and all, not what I was expecting, but a very good listen none the less.

Liked it a lot, not loved it
Revisado: 05-07-13
Would you recommend The Program to your friends? Why or why not?
I would recommend it, even more if they are parents of teenagers that are reading it (I'm 33, so my friends are more likely to be parents than to be teenagers themselves).
It has an interesting subject matter, different from other young adult books I have read, more close to our everyday society and enhancing some important issues that are a reality in the teens: the first love, facing the loss of your love ones, social pressures and expectancies, depression, suicide… and I'm pretty sure a lot of teenagers are going to feel really identify with some of the situations described in the story.
So yes, for those who like young adult books I would recommend this one.
What about Joy Osmanski’s performance did you like?
I liked Joy Osmandi's performance, it was believable in terms of emotions and I think she accomplished all characters pretty well, easily identifiable.
Do you think The Program needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
I don't have to guess in this one, the end of the book is so open that is made for a follow up and in fact in the short interview with the writer at the very last chapter she confirms even the name of the sequel, not the date. And to be honest, I would listen the sequel, this is the kind of book that can keep me entertain enough as long as it keeps going with an interesting story.

Really liked the overall story, hated the end!
Revisado: 04-08-13
Any additional comments?
Pretty entertaining story, Jodi Picoult manages to keep me interested all thru the book. Feel she could take quite well some of the characteristics Asperger kids have and imprint them in Jacobs character.
Liked the narrators and the way everyone takes its character and prints life to them, but I had a few issues with the book, mainly: if Jacob always tells the truth when ask directly as a rule (one of the House Rules), why nobody even consider asking him what happened... one of the big flaws of the book.
And the ending... is like when you are watching a B category movie and you realize they might have run out of money to finish it and rush everything at the end, but here is like the writer run out of ideas in how to present things, really hated those last 30 or 40 minutes of the book and kind of ruin all the good things it has during it.

In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue - Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is - she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

Loved it, another great young adult series
Revisado: 04-08-13
What other book might you compare Divergent to and why?
Divergent series goes quite along in the line of The Hunger Games and Delirium, post apocaliptic society with a strong female character telling the story, pretty much those are all the similarities those 3 series have. But at least for me, a 33 year old that did not have this kind of books in my teens, is all I need to take the leap and try it, I have to say had no regrest from getting it and as I have done with The Hunger Game series, I will listed more than once, because every time there's new things to find in it.
What about Emma Galvin’s performance did you like?
Emma Galving is amazing in transmiting the emotions and feelings the book builds with the story. I have always love reading becauses of how my imagination creates images from the text, and both Veronica with the story and Emma narrating it made me feel those images even more real.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I listened this book and the second one, Insurgent, in about two days each, every moment I had both at home and at work, just wanted to know what came next and now I'm waiting for the 3th, supposedly to be release on October this year.
Any additional comments?
I highly recommend the book for all of those who like a good and new story, with all the hand-holding and love story in it, makes a great entertainment and enjoyable time.
