Historia
Julia Garcia isn't just breaking barriers as the first woman sergeant in the San Amaro State Police; she's shattering them. Despite being the most educated officer on the force, her career aspirations seem out of reach amidst the monotony of solving petty robberies and domestic disputes. Adding insult to injury, her male superiors dismiss her, perpetuating a culture where female officers are an afterthought.

Historia
We are in the middle of a cultural revolution, where the spectrum of gender and sexual identities is seemingly unlimited. So when author and journalist Lisa Selin Davis's six-year-old daughter first called herself a "tomboy", Davis was hesitant. Her child favored sweatpants and T-shirts over anything pink or princess-themed, just like the sporty, skinned-kneed girls Davis had played with as a kid.

Revisado: 04-30-23
Checks every woke box. If that’s all you’re looking for, this will not disappoint. If you are a lesbian or think you might be, good luck getting any insights from this loosely put together series of articles pounding out the mantras of Queer Theory. Sorry I w wasted my time and money.

Historia
Today we think statistics are the enemy, numbers used to mislead and confuse us. That’s a mistake, Tim Harford says in The Data Detective. We shouldn’t be suspicious of statistics - we need to understand what they mean and how they can improve our lives: they are, at heart, human behavior seen through the prism of numbers and are often “the only way of grasping much of what is going on around us”.

Need more lesbian romance/action novels
Revisado: 10-01-19
I hate “straight” depictions of lesbian romances. Too much like male porn. Author Murray gives us a fun lesbian romance and action story all rolled into one that is sure to keep most lesbians and bi-women on the edge of their seats. The performance is also very well done.

Historia
Misogyny is a hot topic, yet it's often misunderstood. What is misogyny, exactly? Who deserves to be called a misogynist? How does misogyny contrast with sexism, and why is it prone to persist - or increase - even when sexist gender roles are waning? This book is an exploration of misogyny in public life and politics by the moral philosopher Kate Manne. It argues that misogyny should not be understood primarily in terms of the hatred or hostility some men feel toward all or most women. Rather, it's primarily about controlling, policing, punishing, and exiling the "bad" women.

Historia
Written with bracing wit and intelligence, Rachel Maddow's Drift argues that we've drifted away from America's original ideals and become a nation weirdly at peace with perpetual war, with all the financial and human costs that entails. To understand how we've arrived at such a dangerous place, Maddow takes us from the Vietnam War to today's war in Afghanistan.

Couldn’t be more informative
Revisado: 11-22-17
Rachel is, without a doubt, one of the best investigative journalists out there. She is also a fantastic teacher and story teller. She has weaved an amazing backdrop to our country’s military and national security agencies in order to argue for some very reasonable and reasoned changes.
