Historia
The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.

You can enjoy this book as a surface level read. You can enjoy this book if you want something a little deeper that reflects how society truly is. You can revel in this book if you want a story to swim through. Your experience is up to you. It helps to let go of rushing plot or character driven narrative and just appreciate that every person and every object in this world experiences a complete and invigorating story of their own.

Revisado: 06-11-22
I read this while moving across country and a whole day of driving went by like nothing. This book immerses you not only in the world, but also in the characters thoughts and feelings. I liked the Netflix show, but of course this was even better. Imagining the world and characters is enthralling.

I was slightly apprehensive of reviews that said this book was not as enthralling as Song of Achilles. Happy to report, this book is absolutely gorgeous. If you’re a fan of The Night Circus, this one has a similar dreamy quality. I’ll be looking for more of Miller’s work for sure.

Jason is the hero we’re all looking for

Giving away a great plot isn’t really my thing, but if you love the idea of a chaotically good guy with evil powers, a great sense of humor, and even better sandwich skills, this is your man.
