Historia
Among the towering red cliffs of Petra, like some monstrous swollen Buddha, sits the corpse of Mrs.Boynton. A tiny puncture mark on her wrist is the only sign of the fatal injection that killed her. With only 24 hours available to solve the mystery, Hercule Poirot recalled a chance remark he'd overheard back in Jerusalem: "You see, don't you, that she's got to be killed?" Mrs. Boynton was, indeed, the most detestable woman he'd ever met....

Appointment with Death is another super book from Status Christie. I would highly recommend it. The ending will keep you guessing and finally put a smile on your face. It is not a long book, so on the next rainy day curl up with your Audible App. and enjoy a good listen.

The Saint saves the day
Revisado: 07-29-19
I have been enjoying the Saint books for light but interesting entertainment. Simon Templar is on the side of right but often gets there by means that may not endear him to the police. Count on the Saint comes up to par with the usual intriguing suspense as Simon solves the mystery and ensures that the evil doer is punished. I do wish that these stories would include the love of his life — Patricia Holme. She is bright enough to be a real asset in his quest and offers a slight twist to the story. Thank goodness there are so many Saint books. They should keep me busy for a while.

This book claims to be unabridge but it lies
Revisado: 06-30-19
The Brilliance books were recorded with each speaker had a separate section of the book. The listener would listen first with only the right speaker playing. Then the listener would listen to the same site with only the left speaker. I have several Brilliance books and they worked fine if you could control your speakers separately. It appears that Audible has broken up the recordings so you don't have to do the speaker bit. However this version is 1 hour and 10 minutes shorter than the Recorded books version. There has got to be some abridgment to get that much time difference. Brilliance also uses several readers. Barbara Rosenblatt is such a fabulous reader that multiple readers is not an advantage. My point is -- get the Recorded Books version of this book.
The Mrs. Pollifax series is a great series. I've read or listened to it more times then I can count and each time I enjoy it even more. The characters are well drawn and you will meet such interesting people. You can read each book as a stand alone. However if this is the first time you've picked up a Mrs. Pollifax book, I would recommend that you go back and start with fist book -- "The Unexpected Mrs. Pollifax". Just remember to get the Recorded Books version, not Brilliance.

Hercule Poirot’s client dies before he can come to see her. The first question: was it murder or natural causes that she died of? However the great Poirot comes up with the right answers and the best solution to the crime. I would recommend this book to all who enjoy “Who done it?” stories.

Historia
The 1968 US presidential election was the young Lawrence O'Donnell's political awakening, and in the decades since it has remained one of his abiding fascinations. For years he has deployed one of America's shrewdest political minds to understanding its dynamics, not just because it is fascinating in itself but because in it is contained the essence of what makes America different and how we got to where we are now.

I lived through the 60’s and thought I was aware. Listening to Playing with Fire brought a lot back but more importantly helped me to understand what was really going on. The story of that era was well written and difficult to put down. I would advise you to have a listen, you won’t regret it.

The story of Clara Hudson.
Revisado: 05-12-16
This book casts Mary and Sherlock in minor roles. It really is the story of Clara Hudson. It will cast her in a different light and one that I'm not sure that I like. I know that I did not like the ending and who Mrs. Hudson truly is. Be prepared to be shocked and a bit sad. I have no idea where the story of Mary and Sherlock is going but I hope we see more of them working together. What I enjoy about this series is how Mary and Sherlock interact. Lately there has been far too little of that. However I still love the series!!

Historia
For years now, readers of the Russell Memoirs have wondered about the tantalizing mentions of Japan. Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes had spent three weeks there, between India ( The Game) and San Francisco ( Locked Rooms). The time has finally come to tell that story. It is 1925, and Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes arrive home to find...a stone. A stone with a name, which they last saw in the Tokyo garden of the future emperor of Japan.

Two stories in one
Revisado: 04-20-16
Laurie R King again has produced an intriguing case for Russell and Holmes. The story begins with the missing details of their Japan stop on the way to San Francisco. Again Ms King provides the reader with an abundance of cultural detail without putting the reader to sleep. The story ends in Oxford with the retrieval of the missing document and the arrest of the bad guys. The one intriguing aspect is that both Holmes and Russell are being manipulated throughout the story. The book will hold your attention throughout. I especially enjoyed this book because Holmes and Russell spend most of their time together. What I have always enjoyed about the series is the interaction between those two.

Phryne Fisher, scented and surprisingly ruthless, is not one to let sleuthing a horrific crime get in the way of an elegant dalliance. The redoubtable Phryne Fisher is holidaying at Cave House, a Gothic mansion in the heart of the Victorian mountain country. But the peaceful country surroundings mask danger. Her host is receiving death threats, lethal traps are set without explanation around the house and the parlour maid is found strangled to death.

This Ms. Fisher book is written asan Agatha Christie style. Or rather a spoof on her style. It is really delightful! This series is one that I have trouble putting down. The characters are so rich; as are the descriptions. The story is believable and Ms. Fisher is my hero. Don't miss this one if you want an entertaining listen.
