I’m not much of a picky person when it comes to books. I can read/listen to almost anything, but this book truly was hard to sit through. I didn’t even end up finishing it.

The plot as a whole is not a bad concept, instant love is a trope I can get behind wholeheartedly. Throw in some age play and it’s chef’s kiss. Plus, who doesn’t love a good vampire romance? However, the execution of both the plot and characters was done poorly.

The entire thing felt rushed and poorly paced. I understand the instant love trope, but there is zero substance to any of the moments shared between Izzy and Nikolai. All of the moments felt like the author was just checking concepts she wanted to incorporate in this off of a checklist. No true substance or build up at all.

I also find Izzy insufferable. He was written very poorly. Age play is one thing, but the man literally talked and behaved like an actual child throughout the entirety of the book up until I literally could not take it anymore and had to stop listening.

Even during certain parts where there was no reason to be behaving in such a way because there was no age play going on at all, he acted like a child. At the beginning he was already being portrayed as a child when nothing was established and it was disturbing honestly.

It made it seem like Izzy was mentally challenged in some way and incapable of thinking for himself. As well as at times seem like he was an actual child and Nikolai was his actual father. Very weird and strange vibes.

Nikolai was also written very poorly. He lacked substance just as much as Izzy did and didn’t provide any type of actual personality out side of being Izzy’s daddy/mate and being master vampire of his coven. That is literally his entire personality.

When he wasn’t thinking about how cute and adorable Izzy was, or about Izzy’s needs, he was thinking about the coven’s needs. Which it isn’t bad for a character to have that type of general thinking/way about them, but I feel as though that shouldn’t make up the entirety of who that character is as a whole.

Like both of them could’ve actually been given personalities and not whatever this entire book is. I don’t even want to keep typing anymore because I feel like I could keep going forever, but overall, one star.

If zero or negative stars were a thing, I’d probably go with that. The story was a big fat zero. Along with the characters, if you could even call them characters honestly.

The narrator didn’t do a bad job with narrating Nikolai at all, but the same cannot be said for the way Izzy sounded. It sounded like nails on a chalkboard every time Izzy said something and it absolutely killed me. Hence the I give the performance a solid two stars.

I loved ever second of this book. The narration was amazing and I really loved it. Gin is such a chaotic and crazy cutie. He’s by far my favorite character in this whole series. Ash is such a sweet little puppy too! Both of them are so cute together. This really is an amazing book!
