The gods had chosen the Domdur to rule the world and had chosen Malledd to be their champion among the Domdur. They had not asked Malledd whether he wanted the job. Now a wizard has raised an army of the undead to overthrow the Domdur Empire, and the world awaits the divine champion who is to save them - but will Malledd come? And if he does, can he be the savior the Domdur expect, or has the gods' favor turned elsewhere?

A bit long to get there, but ultimately satisfying
Revisado: 10-28-20
While the Hero may be the most reluctant I've seen, the climax is ultimately satisfying and the story remained interesting throughout. Recommended.

Historia
On the 18th of February, 1812, the Emily Rose became shipwrecked on the southern coast of Australia. The survivors are forced to walk nearly 1,000 miles through the unexplored land to reach the only settlement, Sydney Cove. Nearly 200 miles inland, they come across the remains of a monstrous ship, far bigger than anything the British Navy had ever constructed. Through basic communication achieved with the natives, they learned that the ship had been there for a very long time...Maybe 1,000 years?

What's not to love?
Revisado: 11-12-19
An action-adventure story involving Nazi's, gold, diving, rock climbing, a deadly virus, espionage, and an exciting plot akin to an adult Goonies meets present-day Indiana Jones... what's not to love? I thoroughly enjoyed it and will be starting the next book in the series immediately. I was given a free review copy of this audiobook at my request and have left my honest review.

Historia
The gods are dying. Thane has served his goddess for thousands of lifetimes, but even he knows that time is running out. There's only one way to save her, to save all of Dweller kind, and it's a suicide mission. The host is a boy named Jakob. His ancient soul is one of the rare sources of power still recycling in the world of flesh. Thane has taken so many souls to his goddess, but this one could save them all. It's only when Thane learns the truth of the gods does he deny them their power. Souls aren't recycled. They're destroyed, and his goddess isn't a deity...she's a monster.

Complex, intriguing, and engaging.
Revisado: 11-12-19
The lore/magic of this world was incredibly foreign and complex to me, but the characters and intricate plot kept me engaged in the story as the lore became clearer and clearer. Its a book that i could listen to again and probably enjoy even more than i did the first time through. Though it could perhaps be found confusing as you enter it's fascinating world, the book demands your attention and keeps you involved as it progresses through its expanding universe. Revisado: 10-23-19
I really enjoyed the group of characters that are spread throughout this book. Each felt very different from the others and were enjoyable to get to know. The story kept moving, kept me guessing, and had some very nice twists and turns before it all came together. The performance was good, and i look forward to more from this author! Historia
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

I may try the text version instead of audio
Revisado: 09-17-19
The story seems great - I love the premise, and the parts of the writing that I could focus on were great, but I just couldn't get past the audio style of this book. I love the narrators voice, but add in non-stop music and constant sound effects, and I was taken out of the story most of the time instead of it enveloping further. The effect of characters internal dialogue was especially distracting, unnecessary, and hard to understand. I gave the book a good 5 hours, as I can tell there is a good story there, but I just couldn't stay focused on it. I may seek out a text version instead of audio, and will probably try other audiobooks from the same author. I was given a free review copy of this audiobook at my request and have left my honest review.
