No better book on the Third Reich
Revisado: 05-01-22
Great book for detailed history of the Third Reich, more information than I had ever heard before and presented in a way that made it a continuous adventure to read. A must read for anyone interested in that time period of German history involving the war.

Historia
When Admiral William Halsey selected Destroyer Squadron 21 to lead his victorious ships into Tokyo Bay to accept the Japanese surrender, it was the most battle-hardened US naval squadron of the war. But it was not the squadron of ships that had accumulated such an inspiring résumé; it was the people serving aboard them. Through diaries, personal interviews with survivors, and letters written to and by the crews during the war, preeminent historian of the Pacific theater John Wukovits brings to life the human story of the squadron and its men.

Fascinating story of real bravery
Revisado: 01-21-21
I listened to this book three times, it’s long, detailed and a great story detailing the war time adventures of the Navies destroyer service in the pacific. I never realized what brave men served on these ships and what terrible situations they faced on a daily basis. Great author, great reader!

Historia
Somalia was Tom Pecora's first deployment as a CIA Protective Operations Cadre (POC) officer, responsible for providing protective operations support in hostile areas of the world. He later headed up a series of the Agency's undisclosed protective operations teams. From 1989 until his retirement in 2013, he was assigned to multiple war zones across Africa, Latin America, Southeast Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, doing the kind of work few are even aware exists.

Don’t wast your money
Revisado: 06-02-20
Can’t determine if it was the narrator or just the story line that made me give up on this book. This book sounded like the script from a B movie plot. As a disabled combat veteran myself I understand the stress of combat and living under constant fear but this book sounds like someone who is only attempting to inflate his own ego. I grew tired of him talking about his girl friend and things that only served the purpose of lengthening the book. He signed up for that job why does he spend so much time complaining about it?

Historia
In 2007, the U.S. Army's 173rd Airborne Brigade posted to northeastern Afghanistan's Kunar Province. Battle Company, the best within the Brigade, was assigned the toughest Area of Operations. It was called the Korengal Valley. During their fifteen-month tour, Battle Company saw more combat than any unit since Vietnam. Raw and unapologetic, To Quell the Korengal is a first-hand account of life on the front lines.

Be prepared
Revisado: 03-06-20
As a former Vietnam grunt I can relate to miserable living conditions but all you will hear in this book is 9 hours of complaining, bitching and how bad he had it. He tells stories that have no endings and just full of more complaining about everything. I thought it might get better as I got into the book but it didn’t.
