Descriptive humorous—one of his best!
Revisado: 01-02-25
I loved Wilbur Smith’s ability to use description and sardonic humor. I was laughing out loud at many points in the book and couldn’t stop listening. The reader was excellent and fascinating to view WWII history in a land about which I know very little. Thoroughly enjoyed the reader as well.

I love the reader and Wilbur Smith’s inventive imagination. I like his later books that take place entirely in Africa better, but this book kept me entertained

Historia
It took one hell of an effort for the authorities to finally get the jump on master manipulator Bianca St. Ives, but now that they have, it’s far from the capture she expected. Instead of taking her in, there’s an offer on the table, a one-shot deal that would allow Bianca to walk away scot-free as if they’d never found her. And all she has to do is run one last mission - the kind she might never return from. But if Bianca wants to go back to her normal life in Savannah, it’s not like she has a choice.

Wilbur Smith is amazing. What a writer! I fell in love with the characters of the book. Smith wove a tale of humor, heartbreak and injustice that kept me listening long into the night. And now I am looking for his next book in the series!

Touched my heart deeply
Revisado: 02-15-23
This story was beautifully written-first seen from the eyes of two sisters abandoned by the mother to an orphanage and then as young women negotiating the life in England during the war. The story mined the depth of their love for each other and for their spouses through commitment and hardship. In the end that love is far more substantial and real than frilly love stories. I am glad I got this book and you will be too.
