Historia
The sequel to the number one Audible Best Seller Earthcore, Mount Fitz Roy continues the tale of Patrick O’Doyle and Bertha Lybrand, who were part of the horror show that occurred far below the mountains of Utah. They learn that the "mother of all motherlodes” discovered there was not unique, that there is another deposit similar to it three miles beneath the towering peak of Cerro Chaltén on the disputed border between Chile and Argentina. O'Doyle, a middle-aged former member of a disgraced black-ops unit, gets his aging team back together to go after this fortune.

Two thumbs up!
Revisado: 03-11-25
I liked the first one, but really like the sequel. Usually it's the first I like more, but not this time. As always Ray Porter is the reason why I even try new books. I basically type in books read by Ray porter and those are what I listen too. Great job all around!

Historia
When vampires attack David White's small town, only luck, firepower, and the intervention of an elite government task force saves his life. The aftermath of the attack leaves him in the middle of the world's biggest secret: the existence of government agencies that regulate the supernatural. They insist that David's "luck" is actually a supernatural gift, and he's immediately recruited into ONSET, the most shadowy part of America's thin blue line of police protectors.

kinda of like men in black meets x men, but with vampires, werewolves and more. I really enjoyed it. Also, Ray Porter is the best narrator I've ever heard.

Revisado: 09-25-24
I listened to the first book a year ago and didnt really like some of the character/plot developments. I like Keven Pierce, so I decided to revisit this series. I was pleasantly surprised with book two, which kept my attention throughout. Im now partially into book 3 which it also really good so far. I might even go back and give book one another try.

I'm currently chipping away at the Joe ledger series and ended up on this gem of a shorter story. I loved it and would have definitely been happy to give up a credit, but free is always nice. it doesn't require any prior reading and is a stand alone absolutely fantastic listen.

Clearly this 🐸 man has a real gift beyond the life of an operator. Im hooked and look forward to this series. I used to think Kevin Pierce was the best narrator out there, with well over a hundred pieces performed by him in my library. I still love you Kevin, but Ray Porter is in a league of his own. To be able to nail down so many different characters with such precision and consistency is amazing to me. I just finished the John demsy series and found this series solely based on a search for Ray Porter wanting more from him. I'm sure glad I did. This Author/narrator duo is as good as it gets if not better and I'm more then happy to throw all my credits their way till I've consumed it all.

great start but....
Revisado: 10-24-23
Spoiler alert and strictly my opinion.... I give away information in this review that kinda gives away major parts of the story, so if you plan listening then just dont read my review. lol... It's actually a really good book and you should give it a try because you might feel completely different about it then me. I'm sorry to the author for my thought, its nothing towards you personally. I honestly loved 98 % of this book, but the other 2 % turned me off from continuing this series... for now at least....
First of all, Kevin Pierce gave a five star performance as always. The story starts out great, but I just couldn't get past how the main group decided to deal with their murderous unstable friend. The mentally deranged friend was a good part of making the story suspenseful, but how they chose to deal with his cold blooded murder just bothered me. Why boxes of dirt? One of their people murders an innocent old timer trying to run a grocery store and then they try to trick them over a couple boxes of supplies. Yeah they asked for more, but a simple explanation and some boxes not filled with dirt probably would have lead to a much more stomaching outcome. Why not just give them the murderous phyco and some food and tell them the truth? I get that maybe the deranged friend might play a role in the future, but maybe he could have just escaped or something just before his just execution AFTER being handed over. Or something.... They could have just told the poor widow he did it behind their backs and handed him over. It was just too foolish for me. In my opinion they should have tried to make an alliance with the towns people using honestly and justice. The story could have still lead to the certain conflict with the growing rise of the raiders without killing so many innocent towns people. I would have been able this plot if the store owners wife and brother in law/family didnt come across as such normal people. If they were depicted as unreasonable poeple and only deception would have got Emma back, then I could understand how things went down. I Just don't like this group after how they handled the situation. hard to continue a story when you don't like the main characters anymore. This had so much potential and I'm sure the next two books are better, I was just left irritated that these out of towners unnecessarily killed innocent locals. that being said im not a writer and just because I have a opinion doesn't mean that I'm right or you won't feel different. maybe I'll try the next book later on when I'm not so irritated with the characters.
One last thing.... why so much dang time on a fence that can just be cut?!?! They go as far as a cement barrier, but anyone with a cheap pair of cutters can breach the perimeter at anyplace easily avoiding the costly razor wire and concrete. Or security cameras!? They had all kinds of other electronics protected? or at least using the night vision mentioned in the beginning for their patrols? How can they come accrross as so smart, but as the son points out be so ignorant about the fence. Why not some wire ran along the fence that when cut trips some alarms or something??? At least cheap trip wires and proximity sensors around the barns and other buildings. It seems they had plenty of materials sufficient for this 🤔 I dunno I don't mean to sound so judgmental, I guess I just feel this book could have really held my attention with a few reasonable tweaks.

writer/narrator combo makes for a masterpiece
Revisado: 01-31-23
This book was two thumbs up. However, I was honestly really let down to find that the second book was not narrated by Kevin Pierce. I listened to the preview and unfortunately will not be purchasing the sequel. You're a great writer, but leave the narrating to Kevin Pierce. Not sure why you didn't have him do the second book, but you lost a sale from me and I'll never know what happens in book two until you get Kevin to read it. I know that's harsh but the narrator to me is 90% of whether or not I buy a book. ide read it myself if I had time, but I do busy work in a shop for 8-10 hours and audio books have become extremely important to getting through the day. long review short, I'll buy any book you write if you get Kevin Pierce read it. looks like you got a lot of other books that have all the material I love, but since they are not read by Kevin Pierce I won't be purchasing them. Hopefully you get the idea if you want to make more money and get your awesome talent to more listeners. blessings and thank you

PLEASE LET THIS NOT BE THE FINAL BOOK!
Revisado: 01-30-23
ATTENTION BOBBY AKART!!!!!!!???? please write a 5th book even a 6th or 7th lol PLEASE! there is definitely still material with the professor and the "Company" and the overall direction maui and even Hawaii would continue going. Also the farm family and group of Marines could encounter endless senerios. maybe even new characters or something to fill pages with your awesome talents. I have lived on the island of Maui, HI for 33 years so when I read the first three books I was drawn to the Maui sections. I had wished there was more material involving Maui, so this 4rth book was probably one of my Favorite of the 100 plus books I've had the privilege of being read to by Kevin Pierce. After listening to stuff by other Narators I can't even get through a book if it's not read by Kevin Pierce. As a fellow listener once wrote something that went like, "Kevin Pierce could make reading the Alphabet sound good." Besides the the involvement of my beautiful home of Maui, I loved every minute of these books and all of Bobby Akarts work (read by Kevin Pierce :)) I hope this message gets to you Mr. Akart and you continue this story. it would make this fans day! Blessings and thank you and everyone involved in bringing these great stories to my ears so far away in the the middle of the ocean. oh and only let Kevin Pierce read your stuff 😄 🤟👏💯👍👍🤙🤙
