The Wokeness is loud.
Revisado: 11-26-20
Well god damn. I don’t normally leave reviews but this book was like he made a list of woke topics, picked different parts of the story and then inserted it in a LOOK-AT-ME style that was so damn awkward and forced.

Historia
Most children go through a dinosaur phase. Learning all the tongue-twisting names, picking favourites based on ferocity, armour, or sheer size. For many kids this love of ‘terrible lizards’ fizzles out at some point between starting and leaving primary school. All those fancy names slowly forgotten, no longer any need for a favourite. For all those child dino fanatics who didn’t grow up to become paleontologists, dinosaurs seem like something out of mythology. They are dragons, pictures in books, abstract, other, extinct.

Last 10 minutes = WTH?

Loved the whole thing outside of the last 10 minutes where they turned it into one giant “Global Warming” awareness push. It seemed totally out of the blue. Was a bit strange.

All her life, Spensa has dreamed of becoming a pilot. Of proving she's a hero like her father. She made it to the sky, but the truths she learned about her father were crushing. The rumors of his cowardice are true - he deserted his flight during battle against the Krell. Worse, though, he turned against his team and attacked them.

Damnit, Sanderson!
Revisado: 12-05-19
I’ve been a Brandon Sanderson fan for awhile now (even managed to get a selfie with him) and I’ve always enjoyed his writing style specifically. He leads you along and makes you feel like you know exactly what to expect and then pulls some crazy twist which blows your mind. And then throws even more at you. Damn good story.

Historia
The human soldiers stranded on the planet Paradise have been recruited into an alien legion to do the dirty jobs that the high-tech species won't do. Their first mission is to kick the enemy off a backwater planet no one cares about. It's a simple assignment, except everyone has a hidden agenda, and the planet could become a deathtrap.

Wow. Just wow. This one is a must!!
Revisado: 06-06-19
If you enjoy expeditionary force AT ALL (and let’s face it, who doesn’t love Joe and that smug-ass little beer can called Skippy) then this literally is a must!
The action in this novel is so damn impressive that it pulls in all of your attention. I’ve already started to do round two of this book.
Why did I enjoy it so much? You’d think the series without Skippy would be absolutely useless, well, you would be absolutely WRONG if you do. The action is on the same level of quality of the journey with Joe and Skippy, but because they don’t have the Beer can, it’s also a lot more real in a way. The characters can warp the fabric of space-time or use some other Elder-level shenanigans to get their butts out of the fire.
I also loved how it really added a lot more of the other races and gave them a significant part in this book. They are so damn interesting. Plus, some of the interactions they have with the humans will have you shooting milk out of your nose if you aren’t careful! (Warning - do NOT drink any liquid while listening. Unless it’s scotch. Then always drink scotch.)
Plot twists, plot twists and plot twists. O M Skippy (Hehe!) you will love the ending. I actually shouting out loud “DON’T END IT LIKE THIS!! I NEED TO HEAR MORE!!”
I don’t leave reviews normally. But if you don’t spend the credit to give this book a try, then may Skippy have mercy on your soul.
P.S. (R.C. Bray’s narration is redonk level good)

Historia
Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

Super trippy! Puts an incredible spin on murder mysteries. Highly recommended!
The narration I was worried about but the guy pulled it off VERY well. I’m looking to see if he has more stuff. But I couldn’t get Sylers face out of my mind when listening.

Historia
United Nations Special Operations Command sent an elite expeditionary force of soldiers and pilots out on a simple recon mission, and somehow along the way they sparked an alien civil war. Now the not-at-all-merry band of pirates is in desperate trouble, again. Their stolen alien starship is falling apart, thousands of light years from home. The ancient alien AI they nicknamed Skippy is apparently dead, and even if they can by some miracle revive him, he might never be the same.

One of the best Sci-Fi series I’ve come across
Revisado: 02-10-18
Honestly, I’ve listened to hundreds of audible audio books. There are several series that I know I’ll keep coming back to and this has seriously hit every area that I love.
The narrator is so damn good at his job which makes it hilarious to listen to.
The writing is very well done and feels like it was intended to be read allow unlike some other books which have a different feel. So the combo of writing and narration go awesome together.
The little plot twist about 75% into it had me screaming “WTF?!?” In the middle of LA traffic. Then I went “oh you annoying little beer can!” Haha.
TRUST THE AWESOMENESS!

You live in your dream house, but there's no mortgage. No alarm clock, no boss, no bills. No claims on the day's time other than what you choose. It is making more money before breakfast than you made for an entire week at your last job. It is a crazy expensive car parked in your garage, a victorious symbol that your dreams no longer sleep in fantasies, but are awake with reality.

Stop the b!tching and buy this book.
Revisado: 06-24-17
I've seen a lot of people in my life who complain about life and why it sucks. I've also seen a lot of fluff online and at a lot of what MJ talks about describes what has been this irritating itch I couldn't exactly pinpoint before.
He does a great job at removing the vale of BS a lot of these online guru's talk about.
I'm almost hesitant to recommend this book to some people because once they read it I think it will shock them so much they could blow a fuse.
Here I would strongly urge you to stop reading reviews and just get the damn book. Audible has an awesome return policy so there is nearly no risk. But I am sure that you wont return it. So just do it.

Completely ruins all other audiobooks!
Revisado: 06-07-16
The production quality of this book is completely ruining all other audiobooks I've listened to. And I've listened to a couple hundred at this point between Audible and other services.
A full cast of voice actors creates an engaging interaction between each of the characters. The music has an amazing way of installing a mood for what is happening. And the sound effects make you feel like you're listening to a movie in your ears.
It's like other audio books are a picture and this book is a fully produced movie. Sure, the other pictures are good, but nothing comes close to this level of production. I think it's setting the ground and raising the bar for all future audio production.
The story is amazing too! Starting with one person up in the mountains and then grows to a multi-galactic space opera. Very impressive!

Historia
Ever since Martin Banks and his fellow computer geeks discovered that reality is just a computer program to be happily hacked, they've been jaunting back and forth through time, posing as medieval wizards and having the epic adventures that other nerds can only dream of having. But even in their wildest fantasies, they never expected to end up at the mercy of the former apprentice whom they sent to prison for gross misuse of magic and all-around evil behavior.

Can't get enough!
Revisado: 02-25-15
What did you love best about An Unwelcome Quest?
The geek approach and geek responses to the situations that come up. There are certain things that happen and I think I would react the same way the characters do.
What did you like best about this story?
The whole concept is great. But I really liked the wolfs and how they respawned. reminded me of my EverQuest days.
Which scene was your favorite?
The part in the house - You will know what I mean when you get there. Friggen Funny.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
This is not that type of book...wtf?
Any additional comments?
I really hope the author has a ton more books lined up in the series. Can't get enough of these. I like how Martin isn't the full focus of this book. You get to know about other characters more. Would be fun to get into the life of some of the other people in the story.
