Historia
Adolf Hitler spilled the blood of millions for his own sake. Jesus Christ shed his own blood for the sake of millions. Hitler set himself up as a god and the masses succumbed. Jesus Christ was God in the form of lowly man. Hitler created a living hell for the masses. Jesus endured hell to save the masses. Hitler's name is synonymous with power, evil, and genocide. Jesus' name with love, peace, and life. Put the two in a room together and you won't believe your ears.

Only thing interesting is the title
Revisado: 02-10-15
What disappointed you about The Lamb and the Fuhrer?
Typical notions of judgement used...a courtroom (how dull). The Jesus narrator was awful. Way overdid the Christian lecturing. I know that 1+1 = 2.
Would you ever listen to anything by Ravi Zacharias again?
I think I am done. This was book 2.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
In many ways. The Jesus narrator sounded like a boy and Hitler was a man, so it was like a boy lecturing to man...The whole first chapter (scene) stank of Job's friends...if you know what I mean.
Any additional comments?
I am not a fan of lecturing of this type, which at it's core is ALL this book is. It is not an exploration of Hitler and Jesus discussions. it is just rehashing the author's interpretations of the Bible. I realize anyhow who would speculate on their conversation might be incorrect, but that is why I read books. I want an author to think of this (that is truly creative). If I wanted to read the Bible, I would just do that.

Well done, but mixed bag of performances
Revisado: 01-18-15
Any additional comments?
Biggest complaint: Jesus. Understand that being the narrator for Jesus is a tall order for anyone, that said, I found the performance to be forced, slightly whiny, and unappealing.
Biggest compliment: The voice of Job was outstanding.

Grace. We talk as though we understand the term. The bank gives us a grace period. The seedy politician falls from grace. Musicians speak of a grace note. We describe an actress as gracious, a dancer as graceful. We use the word for hospitals, baby girls, kings, and pre-meal prayers. We talk as though we know what grace means. But do we really understand it? Have we settled for wimpy grace? It politely occupies a phrase in a hymn, fits nicely on a church sign. Never causes trouble or demands a response.

What's wrong with beer?
Revisado: 05-13-13
Would you try another book from Max Lucado and/or Wayne Shepherd?
Yes
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
A little less retelling of Bible stories...I don't buy a book to hear it retell another (even if it is the Bible)
Any additional comments?
I don't understand the authors whole section on driking beer. I understand that he felt hiding it was wrong, but personally if you aren't getting drunk, what exactly is the sin there? Just don't hide driking a beer, there is nothing wrong with it (Paul and Jesus drank wine afterall!...I don't believe beer was availabe in that era, or perhaps they'd be having a beer too!). Anyhow, either way, the section on this was long and distracting and was't the best story to make a point.

Historia
How God is described today strikes many as mean, primitive, backwards, illogical, tribal, and at odds with the frontiers of science. At the same time, many intuitively feel a sense of reverence and awe in the world. Can we find a new way to talk about God? Pastor and New York Times best-selling author Rob Bell shows how traditional ideas have grown stale and dysfunctional and reveals a new path for how to return vitality and vibrancy to how we understand God.

Good Rob Bell book, but not a Love Wins

Any additional comments?
I liked the book, but it isn't at all a Love Wins book. Rob seems a little uninterested during his reading of the book at times.

The Idolatry of God

Historia
Whether listeners are devout believers or distant seekers, The Idolatry of God shows that we must lay down our certainties and honestly admit our doubts to identify with Jesus. Rollins purposely upsets fundamentalist certainty in order to open listeners up to a more loving, active manifestation of Christ’s love. In contrast to the usual understanding of the "Good News" as a message offering satisfaction and certainty, Rollins argues for a radical and shattering alternative. He explores how the Good News actually involves embracing the idea that we can’t be whole, that life is difficult, and that we are in the dark.

I love logic...but this is depressing logic
Revisado: 03-22-13
Would you try another book from Peter Rollins and/or Peter Rollins?
This is my first Peter Rollins book and he strikes me as intelligent and educated. That said, I had a hard time listening to this book and it's content. The book strikes me as a pool of philosophy and doesn't really answer questions. I guess if that is the sort of thing you enjoy then great, this book might be enjoyable.
I get that churches and wrong images of god can be idolized, but God (the real one) cannot be idolized.

Not as good as the Shack and a bit boring
Revisado: 02-26-13

The book borrowed too many themes from The Shack. I didn't find the story as engrossing and I got bored with it.

It's a compilation of Christian testimonials about miracles.
Reader's voice was clear and well read, I just don't particularly care fore the "nice guy sappy voice".

I appreciate the reporting of the testimony in a logical way. Not speculating (at least too much). The speculation that was there was fair.

Some fact, some speculation...author not clear
Revisado: 06-01-12
Any additional comments?
Heaven has been a far too ignored topic, so I have to appreciate the author taking on the task. That said, he makes a lot of statements of fact, that are really statements of speculation. I am fine with speculation, just state you are doing so (which he doesn't). He also intermingles his own doctrinal views (as fact), which is too bad.
