Having entertained the idea for years, and even offered a few questionable opportunities ("It's a piece of cake! Just do four hours of interviews, find someone else to write it, put your face on the cover, and voila!") I have decided to tell these stories just as I have always done, in my own voice.

Great stories, smartly told by a legend!
Revisado: 06-14-23
I am a fan of David Grohl and his mother (If you havent read and watched Cradle to the Stage..DO THAT NEXT!), although I'm not into his music (sorry Dave if you ever do read this...my brother was the one into punk and I only know a small but of it 🤷♀️) I am though a music lover my whole life, all genres and at almost 55 really connected heating these stories! I feel like I have watched him for years and as he told these stories, I was also sentimental remembering when I saw him or his band (Inducting Rush in the Hall of Fame...I do love Rush!) and what was happening in my life then. Listening, we have many similarities ( I will spend HOURS trying to talk myself out of vomiting...and the ghost thing, yes me too, my entire life!! LOL) and love many of the same artists that he mentions. He takes you on his journey in this book and is so real and honest in how he tells his story, I felt like I was there. I smiled, commented out loud, "DUH!" At all the same places right before he said it and teared up all throughout the book! Feeling those emotions with him! I was already a fan, but now even more. I am so glad I listened to this instead of reading it. It meant more to hear your voice. Thank you for sharing such an intimate and thorough telling of all the ups, downs, and truly incredible moments of your life, David Grohl! I HIGHLY recommend listening if you've gotten this far in my review. 💙

FANTASTIC! Highly recommend !
Revisado: 03-15-22
First, know I am very bias...Chuck D has been a hero of mine for many many years now. Although not much older than me, it is enough that as a young woman in my 20's....he opened my eyes with his music to see things I had not up until then. This was long before internet, social media and lots of other things. I had to seek him out....and seek him out I did. He was always involved in the coolest things to me and I loved the man's music. As a long time fan, I couldn't wait to listen to this. And like the last three decades or so . ...He did not disappoint. I love how he wove the stories, gave the background and then played the music! If you love music, especially music with a message and purpose, then this is a must listen. Chuck D with that great voice and wealth of knowledge will leave you longing for more chapters.

Historia
Thirty-one years ago in Anchorage, Alaska, Victoria Pilz Bannister Muravieff was convicted of murdering her seventeen-year-old son William. The jury returned a quick verdict of guilty, believing the prosecutor's claims that she had set fire to her own home with both her sons inside; William died and the other, Oliver, narrowly escaped. Victoria was sentenced to life in prison without parole, and though she pled not guilty at the trial, she never again denied her guilt.

Historia
In the summer of 1990, Eddie Vedder left the surf and sun in San Diego to join a group of friends working to put a new band together in the Seattle underground. Within months, they were anything but underground; they’d found their lead singer, and Vedder went on to lead Pearl Jam on a global takeover of ‘90s culture. In this latest edition of Audible’s Words + Music series, Vedder dives deep, reflecting on a life at the intersection of art, sensitivity, and masculinity.

Fantastic and Beautiful!
Revisado: 12-28-21
I was slow to warm to Pearl Jam when they released their first album way back when. I was 23, kind of lost and searching as many of us do at that age. Friends of mine played that album non stop. Then suddenly one night playing poker with them, I realized I was singing along and had become a fan. To which I still am. Just Breath got me through a very rough year in 2010 and still can choke me up sometimes. So as a fan and fan of music history, I downloaded this. I love Eddie's voice both singing and speaking and hearing his story in his words/voice was as incredible as I'd hoped it would be. I think he did a truly remarkable job of telling us his story and the music was a beautiful touch in between. I didn't think it was possible but I may be an even bigger fan now!

Historia
Chicago, 2018: Ole Henryks, a popular restauranteur, is set to be honored by the Danish/American Association for his many civic and charitable contributions. Frequently appearing on local TV, he is well known for his actions in Nazi-occupied Denmark during World War II - most consider him a hero. Britta Stein, however, does not. The 90-year-old Chicago woman levels public accusations against Henryks by spray-painting “Coward”, “Traitor”, “Collaborator”, and “War Criminal” on the walls of his restaurant.

Historia
There is a voice of longing inside each woman. We strive so mightily to be good: good partners, daughters, mothers, employees, and friends. We hope all this striving will make us feel alive. Instead, it leaves us feeling weary, stuck, overwhelmed, and underwhelmed. We look at our lives and wonder: Wasn’t it all supposed to be more beautiful than this? We quickly silence that question, telling ourselves to be grateful, hiding our discontent—even from ourselves.

A Must Read for Every Woman
Revisado: 09-14-21
Beginning to end, Glennon had me spellbound by her beautiful words. She was masterful in telling her own story in such a way that I as the reader felt the highs and lows with her. I have shared and plan to purchase several additional close female friends for Christmas, so they too can get to the end like I did and realize...I am a g** damn Cheetah!! 💙

Historia
Germany, 1945. The soldiers who liberated the Gross-Rosen concentration camp said the war was over, but nothing feels over to 18-year-old Zofia Lederman. Her body has barely begun to heal; her mind feels broken. And her life is completely shattered: Three years ago, she and her younger brother, Abek, were the only members of their family to be sent to the right, away from the gas chambers of Auschwitz-Birkenau. Everyone else—her parents, her grandmother, radiant Aunt Maja—they went left.

Historia
If anyone could be considered a Russian counterpart to the infamous British double-agent Kim Philby, it was Oleg Gordievsky. The son of two KGB agents and the product of the best Soviet institutions, the savvy, sophisticated Gordievsky grew to see his nation's communism as both criminal and philistine. He took his first posting for Russian intelligence in 1968 and eventually became the Soviet Union's top man in London, but from 1973 on he was secretly working for MI6.

It took some time to get into it for me, learning the back ground, people etc. However, after a couple chapters I found a rhythm while listening and then could not stop listening. Loved the Epilogue and the detailed updates for all the people involved that I had both jeered and cheered for so many hours!
