Historia
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

Well done
Revisado: 10-21-24
I appreciated the honesty of JD Vance. It was educational to see into the lives of Americans in his situation. Very different from my own experience as a true middle class kid. Lower middle class middle class. I appreciated that he didn’t get resentful or view himself as a victim. He just learned to appreciate what he had and make the most of his potential. It was very inspiring.

Historia
Dorothea Brooke is an ardent idealist who represses her vivacity and intelligence for the cold, theological pedant Casaubon. One man understands her true nature: the artist Will Ladislaw. But how can love triumph against her sense of duty and Casaubon’s mean spirit? Meanwhile, in the little world of Middlemarch, the broader world is mirrored: the world of politics, social change, and reforms, as well as betrayal, greed, blackmail, ambition, and disappointment.

Wonderful in every way
Revisado: 02-08-23
This is a beautiful story. The literary genius of the author is so apparent. Middlemarch is like any small town or small community, often drawing conclusions and sometimes condemnIng people without knowing the whole story. This is a story that teaches us not to be judge mental. Like if you judge a great story by what it teaches you. This is one of the greatest. We were are better human beings for having read it.

Outstanding book.

I've read most of Charles Dickens books and this ranks right up there with pretty much all of them. Phenomenal. But the reader was incredible. How he could so consistently change voices to so many characters, male and female, and represent them so well was nothing short of genius to me. A most enjoyable listen! Thanks!

My husband was not a monster. No matter what they say.... The day my husband, Michael, stepped in front of a lorry after being questioned by the police, my world fell apart. He was devoted to me and our six-year-old daughter. But they’d connected him to the disappearance of a young mother from our tiny village.

Excellent
Revisado: 11-23-22
I enjoyed listening to this book the entire way through. The narrator did such a good job of changing voices and especially loved the Polish accent. It was easy to listen to and kind of a page turner. I also appreciated the ending. But I won't say how it ends because I'm not a spoiler. But I'd recommend this especially if you like murder mysteries.
