Historia
How wonderful it is for those who love Christmas to listen to stories that inspire the happiest of seasons. And no story is as compelling as Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, penned in 1843. But what triggered Dickens' imagination to write a story so unlike anything he had written before? In Eben Kruge, author Richard Barlow Adams delivers a pause-resisting narrative that weaves fact and fiction for a penetrating look inside the life and psyche of Dickens when he and wife Catherine traveled to America in 1842 at the invitation of Washington Irving.

A great take on a great classic
Revisado: 11-29-22
My favorite classic of the Christmas season is A Christmas Carol and in Eben Kruge Adams has crafted a great new twist on the classic story. It is fairly short, and moves swiftly. It is a story you can listen to quickly as you go about your errands of the holiday season, and will keep you in the mood of the season. I would recommend it to anyone looking for an interesting take on the class story.

Historia
Dirk Struan rose from humble beginnings to build Struan & Company, also known as the Noble House, into the world’s largest Far East trading company. He is now the Tai-Pan—Supreme Leader—of all Tai-Pans in China. Along the way, however, he made a powerful enemy. Tyler Brock, Struan’s rival from their early opium-smuggling days, also heads a large trading fleet, second in size only to Struan’s. But it is not only silks and spices that drive their mutual companies’ wealth—the opium trade is still booming.

A Classic
Revisado: 11-06-22
Tai-Pan, the second book in the Asia saga is a story which will draw you in an utterly engulf you in the narrative. Given its more than 30 hour run time, one might expect it to drag at times. However, the strength of the words crafted here will make this a fleet listen and have you rushing to follow up with Noble House. However, despite all of the praises I could heap upon this book, they all pale when you read (or in this case, listen) to the last line. Perhaps one of the best last lines in literally history!

Powerful and moving
Revisado: 08-28-22
This was a great story of one of the darkest chapters in American history. It tells the story of how a subset of Americans were denied their liberty solely based on the way they look and how one of their numbers, Norman Mineta, rose above the injustice visited on him and the other members of the Japanese American community, and went on to help lead this country. He not only led the fight to make an apology for what America had done to its citizens, but also worked with American President George W. Bush to make sure it would not happen again.
This book was presented in a very approachable fashion and was of a length that kept the story brisk and never stale. This was a story I can not recommend highly enough. It was inspirational and heartbreaking at the same time while leaving you to believe that no matter who you are, or what you have been through, this is a country where you can become anything if you believe hard enough and are willing to do the hard work necessary to make a difference.

Historia
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Great story
Revisado: 08-25-22
This is not only a terrific science fiction story, it is a great mixture of excitement, heart, and humour… a lot of humour. I throughly enjoyed Columbus Day and the only negative thing I can say about it is I am hooked and other books will now be falling by the wayside and I delve deeper into this series!

A great story from one of the best
Revisado: 06-09-22
Richard Blade is a name everyone who grew up in Southern California in the 1980s know. KROQ was the soundtrack of my childhood and Richard Blade was the narrator. The life story of Richard Blade is a story as incredible as the music he plays. The places he has been, the people he has met and the lives he has changed are an inspiration to anyone fortunate enough to pick up this book. If you knew him from his days on KROQ of from SiriusXM, you need to get this book. If you don’t know who Richard Blade is, you will want this book so you can hear this wonderful story of an inspirational life well lived. It doesn’t matter if you like autobiographies or not, World In My Eyes is a story you simply must experience.
