I love this author and have loved everything written by her but this character I just didn’t like. I didn’t care about her. The story seemed to drag us through a past that was a little boring. The writing style is great just needed a better main character.

A Touching Story
Revisado: 07-12-19
I've read some of the reviews and am so glad I ignored them. The story is really good even though I figured it out within the first couple minutes but that's ok. Many books tell you who the bad guy is in the beginning and it's interesting to see how the pieces come together. I thought the narrator was fantastic. I always knew who was talking and she did wonderfully with the child's voice. I am so glad I listened to this book as the story was touching and lovely. I loved all the characters and it was wonderful to watch the main character develop. Honestly this is probably one of my favorite Nora Roberts book. I highly recommend it.

Good Story - Why So Many
Revisado: 10-04-18
I am of two minds about this book. I'm a huge BDB fan and I love JR Ward's writing style but this book just didn't do it for me. To start I wasn't invested in the main characters. I just didn't care about their relationship. The story line was hard to follow until the end where it wrapped up and all the little pieces fell into place. Finally, there are four narrators and I am still scratching my head over that creative decision. At first I thought perhaps each of the main characters would have a unique voice but, for example, when the female protagonist was voiced by both female and male narrators I was left wondering why there was a need for four. I think this audio book would have been much better if there had been only one. I'm giving this book three stars for two reasons. First because it's the first book in a series and first books can sometimes stumble but then recover in the next one. Second, while all the narrators were great and very talented having four of them was distracting and unnecessary. Will I listen to the next in the series? Probably. Mostly because I'm curious to see where Ms. Ward takes us next. I'm holding out hope book two will be better and that there will be only one narrator.

Skip If You Don't Have or Planning to Have Childre
Revisado: 04-25-18
I bought this book a little while ago and promised myself I would read it because I really like the author. I finally decided to download the audiobook. I will say this, it is a good book and the narrator does a good job but the majority of the book is about parenthood and how to raise wholehearted children. She does talk about some things you can do if you're in a leadership role in your professional life and that was useful. I can only recommend this book for people who are already parents or are planning to be parents. If you're single and have no plans to have children I would skip this book. Listen to The Power of Vulnerability where you can a lot of the same information but with less emphasis on parenthood.

In this straightforward handbook, he gives you the tools and advice you need to demolish the slag weighing you down and become the truly unf--ked version of yourself. "Wake up to the miracle you are," he directs. "Here's what you've forgotten: You're a f--king miracle of being." It isn't other people that are standing in your way; it isn't even your circumstances that are blocking your ability to thrive. It's yourself and the negative self-talk you keep telling yourself.

I was in a pretty low place and was looking for something to help get me out of a rut. Listening to this book put things into perspective and opened my mind. I was doing a lot of things to myself via my thoughts and inaction. Gary helped me see that. If you are in a place where you feel stuck this book can help immensely. It is read by the author but unlike other books he does a fantastic job. It's like you're having a conversation with a coach who is telling you like it is and is not pulling any punches. I highly recommend this book.

Now an arson investigator, she finds her strength and wits constantly tested, although sometimes the job seems like a snap compared to her love life. But she can’t always blame the men. After all, a soot-caked woman barking orders and smelling of smoke isn’t the biggest turn-on in the world. Then she meets Bo Goodnight, who seems different.

A Very Good Story
Revisado: 03-22-18
I did enjoy this book. The story was good and I really cared about all the characters because they were fleshed out very well. I'm glad I read through some of the other reviews about a certain scene. I could tell it was coming and so was able to fast forward for about a minute and not hear it which didn't take anything away from the story. I knew what had happened I didn't need the details. The narration was very good. I could always tell who was talking and her voice has a nice resonance so it was really easy to listen to. Overall I can recommend this book just be aware there is a part of the book that some people have found unsettling.

Love The World Created
Revisado: 10-22-17
I am a huge fan of JD Robb and love the world Ms. Roberts has created in her In Death series. I've recently started reading the books she writes under her own name and was concerned they would be too syrupy. But that is not the case. This book is now a favorite of mine. I loved the world that is created, I loved the characters, I loved the story and I loved the narrator. Nora Roberts writes strong female characters and that comes shining through in the character of Bodine Longbow. She's accomplished, successful and down to earth. The Bodine family are people I want to sit down and have dinner and conversation with. I want to visit the ranch and the resort and ride a horse. I don't generally like books about cowboys but this one stole my heart. So if you're looking for a good story and lovable characters I highly recommend this book.

A Little Slow At The Start
Revisado: 03-23-17
I wanted to read this series because my sister said I would enjoy it. I am also a fan of Luke Daniels and I saw that he was narrating. But he doesn't do the first book. Jeffrey Cummings did a very good job but I was expecting Mr. Daniels. But I had already spent my point so I listened. The story was pretty good but a little slow in the beginning. I was able to over look this because I know the first book in a series has the onerous task of introducing the characters, and as it is in this book, the relationships between a cast of what I assume will be recurring characters. There were some relationships that took a little to long to develop and I found that a little frustrating. When it happened it was sort of anticlimactic. I did like all the characters a lot and I will definitely listen to the rest of the series. I will say I didn't figure out the end so I was very satisfied. I love a good mystery. I can recommend this book with one caution. Give it time. It does pick up about half way through and is well worth the time spent. All in all it was a pretty good book.

A Little Slow
Revisado: 02-22-17
I am a big Kim Harrison fan and was very excited about another book in my favorite world. I wasn't sure what to expect since this was a prequel. I was very interested to learn about The Turn and this book was very good at filling in the history behind that event. At times the story was a little slow and at times there was a little too much introspection from the characters. I would like to say I liked the heroine but I didn't. As a scientist I expected her to be a little more analytical but she made a lot of decisions based on her emotions. This didn't make for a very strong female lead. After a time I found myself rolling my eyes when she bemoaned the outcome of a decision. The antagonist was written really well and I did really hate him. My only complaint was his fate. I didn't like that at all although I understand why it had to happen that way based on the series. The performance by Marguerite Gavin was very good. I knew which character was speaking at all times and she put the right spin on the story. I would definitely listen to other books she narrates. All in all "The Turn" is a good book for fans of the series but without a stronger female lead I can't give the story more than three stars.

Historia
Tessa Wilson's life is all over the map. She may be clumsy, but this time she's stumbled into a pickle by choice, not by accident. She's agreed to take a month-long trip around Texas jammed into a '59 Cadillac with a drama-loving teenager, two elderly spitfires, and—oh, yes—her biological mama who gave her away at birth. And the ride gets even crazier when hot-as-sin cowboy Branch Thomas crosses into her lane. They don't call him the sexiest man in the Lone Star State for nothin'.

Revisado: 10-04-16
If you listen to one audiobook listen to this one. The story is beautiful and touching. There were times I thought my heart would break but then I would chuckle through the tears. The narrator did a wonderful job and I always knew who was talking. I will listen to other books she narrates. I can't say enough good things about this book. Beautiful.
