Historia
Bones—Murphy Shepherd's teacher, mentor, priest, and friend—is gone. Devastated by the loss and unsure how to continue the rescue work they started, Murph has no choice but to jump back in when the worst happens. His longtime friend and current United States vice president, Aaron Ashley, has been a silent partner in the fight against trafficking. But in spite of having the best security available, his three daughters have been taken bound and blindfolded from their home by an extraction team that left no clues and no trace.

Riveting, beautiful, but slightly repetitive
Revisado: 04-19-25
Charles Martin is a lovely writer and adds another surprising twist to an action packed mystery. My only criticism is that this installment is extended by too many chapter repeats from previous series books. Retelling in summary is one thing, copying and pasting for those of us who are reading them in order is quite another.
Love the story though! Can’t wait for the next one. I love the characters.

A heartfelt, intense, mystery in action
Revisado: 04-13-25
The second story of Murphy shepherd is thrilling and engaging. I didn’t want to stop before the bad guy was caught. Can Murph take anymore, seems like he can’t but then he does. Maybe to an extreme causing some unbelievable eye rolls but they’re worth it for the mystery that’s difficult to solve. Something every reader knows they really want. To be surprised. This installment did that in spades.

Historia
Serving as a powerful follow-up to Jordan Peterson’s book 12 Rules for Life, Dr. Gad Saad unpacks what is really happening in progressive safe zones, why we need to be paying more attention to these trends, and what we must do to stop the spread of dangerous thinking. A professor at Concordia University who has witnessed this troubling epidemic firsthand, Dr. Saad dissects a multitude of these concerning forces (corrupt thought patterns, belief systems, attitudes, etc.) that have given rise to a stifling political correctness in our society.

Be the honey badger. Learn what you think and why and DEFEND it! I can’t seem to muster the strength but books like this convict me and remind me how very important it is to stand on something or fall for anything

Tears and deep thoughts for days
Revisado: 04-26-22
This book may have changed my view, it may have changed me. And I’m not exaggerating. The implications of the prodigal son story told through the heart wrenching pain seen in trials of today and viewed through the heart of a writer adding the thoughts of that prodigal son really resonated and hit me in all the feels. I will reread this book

Historia
At 22, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. In the wake of her mother's death, her family scattered and her own marriage was soon destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life: to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State - and to do it alone. She had no experience as a long-distance hiker, and the trail was little more than “an idea, vague and outlandish and full of promise.” But it was a promise of piecing back together a life that had come undone.

When Narcissism meets adventure
Revisado: 02-24-22
I don’t know how I finished, I only know that I had to. Somehow I knew that somewhere in this book there would be some big realization that life was made to be lived in the present and we are to forgive others and ourselves. In that, this book earns two stars instead of none. The writing was magical in tone, high in amount of drug use im sure. It was poetic and lovely in description and yet it failed to do the one thing a redemptive arch does. There was no repentance. One must repent and understand where one went wrong to be redeemed. Otherwise a character just flails through life on a hope and a dream (I can’t even say prayer because the author definitely rebutted such things).
I’m unimpressed by the authors story outside of Will power to move forward without the will power to assess ones selves mistakes. She was unable or unwilling to condemn drug use, unable to be weary of the dangers of frequent unprotected and uninhibited sexual encounters all why questions how she could be getting a divorce after numerous affairs all while unwilling to see her husband as the victim in her “crimes” against him. She loved him so much she had to go ruin it Bc that’s who she was, that was meant to be. No, it wasn’t’ she chose to see herself, her emotions and her life as more important than his. And though it appears after the book she learned to love someone else better (her current husband) I find it interesting she refused to really take responsibility for any of it, in the end the last 2 mins of the book redeemed her…it’s her life, it’s “wild, let it be.” Indeed, she chose her life, including all the pain she suffered outside of her mother. She even , in my opinion haphazardly gave up on her dad for marrying again seemingly though it felt very much like she left important details out of the relationships she had with others.
And the Joe stuff and the heroin and the abortion which she would go on to embrace and praise and fund with organizations. As if that’s a thing to praise. As if abortions are just important for her happiness and not literally ending another life. It was hard to accept this level of narcissism and self-centeredness from a 26 year old, she very much could have been 16 in her view of life.
And in the end the last two minutes redeemed those two stars, the poetry did find me, the beauty in her realization at the end did touch me and I did end up wishing her the best, I only wish she had condemned her actions more so that other upcoming youth would understand that her choices led her down a dark road and the ways to avoid that dark road are possible. Injecting heroin could kill you, an abortion can break your spirit and leave scars on your heart, divorcing a man due to numerous affairs can be harmful to you, affairs unfettered can be harmful for your health. And yet, those young women would only know that it’s their journey and it’s worth it.
I hope many learn from this that she was wrong, very wrong about much of this. You can seek counseling and embrace family, and journal and hike without putting yourself and others In harms way. And I’d argue you should try those things first before following In her footsteps the first 900 miles at least!
May we all read this as a cautionary tale and not as a wild adventure we also should undertake, hiking aside and maybe even learn from her hiking mistakes too as they were plentiful

I love this mission to share his ideas bc no one else seems to be doing much (intermittently yes but we definitely need more)
My favorite was the debate episode but I’m pretty hooked to this podcast! Anxiously awaiting more. Hoping to see other debates.
