Historia
Who is Jesus Christ? You've never met him in person, and you don't know anyone who has. But there is a way to know who he is. How? Jesus Christ - the divine person revealed in the Bible - has a unique excellence and a spiritual beauty that speaks directly to our souls and says, "Yes, this is truth." It's like seeing the sun and knowing that it is light or tasting honey and knowing that it is sweet.

Book Excellent; Narrator Eh...
Revisado: 05-14-20
Love this book... but the narrator changes A LOT of words (I follow along in a physical book while I listen to audiobooks). This is a problem with many of the books this narrator has done. He has a nice voice, but he either needs to pay better attention to what he's reading or, perhaps, STOP thinking that he knows what the book "should have said" (especially when it comes to the caliber of the authors whose works he reads). The people who only listen to these audios won't realize that Piper actually didn't write what they're hearing in many places.

Prepare to hear ideas you've never considered. This ancient vision is new again, and adopting it today will take a complete family revision. But few are able to locate the root of the problem. This audiobook offers a surprising perspective. Maybe the way forward for the family can be found in the past. The Bible provides a lost family blueprint that is almost entirely unknown by modern Christians.

Loved the blueprint, but production needs editting
Revisado: 04-28-20
The content is great, but the narrator (who is also the author) *frequently* ad libbed as he read, changing multiple words per page and often sounding like a guy suddenly nervous while giving a speech. There's even an occasion in the last chapter where they forgot to edit out his coughing. Like I said, the book is great, but the end product is deminished by the amateurish feeling of the audio.

Would you believe it took nearly 500 years to translate the ESV (English Standard Version) Bible? That's because the ESV builds on the great translations of the past - including William Tyndale's New Testament of 1526 and the King James Version (KJV) of 1611. But the ESV Bible also builds on the best Christian scholarship of the last 100 years.

Needs chapter titles!!
Revisado: 02-23-20
This is an excellent audio version but it's EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING to try to find a specific chapter of the Bible to listen to. It ought to be obvious that most people are not going to listen to an audio bible the same way they would a normal book (i.e., straight through). MOST people want an audio bible so that they can listen to whatever random sections they have for their devotion or something. Having the audio chapters titled (like "Psalm 87", "Proverbs 9", "Isaiah 6") would make this audio eminently more useable.

Historia
In this revision of a foundational work, John Piper reveals how grace is not only God’s undeserved gift to us in the past, but also God’s power to make good happen for us today, tomorrow, and forever. True life for the follower of Jesus really is a moment-by-moment trust that God is dependable and fulfills his promises. This is living by faith in future grace, which provides God's mercy, provision, and wisdom - everything we need - to accomplish his good plans for us. In Future Grace, chapter by chapter - one for each day of the month - Piper reveals how cherishing the promises of God helps break the power of persistent sin issues.

Book is great but Audible screwed up the ch breaks
Revisado: 07-28-17
Why, oh why did Audible not place the chapter breaks for this book in line with THE ACTUAL CHAPTERS????? This is especially frustrating for a book designed to be listened to a chapter per day. Forced me to bookmark the beginning of each Ch as I listened, so that the next go through will be less inconvenient.

Historia
Each day we face a barrage of images and messages from society and the media telling us who, what, and how we should be. We are led to believe that if we could only look perfect and lead perfect lives, we'd no longer feel inadequate. So most of us perform, please, and perfect, all the while thinking, What if I can't keep all of these balls in the air? Why isn't everyone else working harder and living up to my expectations? What will people think if I fail or give up? When can I stop proving myself?

Love the material, but it needs to be rerecorded
Revisado: 09-12-16
The narrator often skips words (making it hard to understand the sentence) and even says the wrong word in some cases (eg, "others" instead of "ourselves" - which completely CHANGES the meaning!). She also has no consistent speed, going slow for awhile and then rattling out several mouthfuls in one breath (which caused me to have to pause and change the playback speed frequently, which interrupted the flow of the book significantly.
I usually love listening to an audiobook while following along in the physical book (the book keeps me focused on what I'm listening to and the audiobook keeps me going and progressing) but, honestly, I seriously considered ditching this audio before it even got to the guideposts!

Many believers feel stunted in their Christian growth. We beat ourselves up over our failures and, in the process, pull away from God because we subconsciously believe He tallies our defects and hangs His head in disappointment. In this new edition - now with a foreword by Michael W. Smith, testimony by Rich Mullins and the author's own epilogue, "Ragamuffin Ten Years Later," Brennan Manning reminds us that nothing could be further from the truth.
