Historia
There's a damsel in distress and accusations of attempted murder flying around, but it's not in the comfortable confines of the English countryside; it's in the very distant city of Damascus. Lennox must go and investigate, although he's not too keen on exotic locations, and his old retainer Greggs is distinctly averse to the very idea. Nevertheless, ex-Chief Inspector Swift persuades them, and they reach the ancient city to discover a movie crew, a spy, and a couple of mysterious ladies.

Historia
Abandoned by their parents as toddlers, Willie and Bobbie Nelson found their love of music almost immediately through their grandparents, who raised them in a small Texas town. Their close relationship was the longest-lasting bond in both their lives. In alternating chapters, this heartfelt dual memoir weaves together both their stories as they experienced them side by side and apart.

Amazing, interesting history of the Nelson Band
Revisado: 09-27-24
Knowing little of the the Nelson siblings history, this book was a revelation to me. Interesting writing, amazing songs and resilience in the tough music scene. We are privileged as listeners to hear their history unfold in their own voices,

Historia
Helen Rebanks' beautifully written memoir takes place across a single day on her working farm in the Lake District of England. Weaving past and present, through a journey of self-discovery, the book takes us from the farmhouse table of her grandmother and into the home she now shares with her husband, James, their four kids, and an abundance of animals. With honesty and grace, Helen shares her life in days—sometimes a wonder and a joy, others a grind to be survived—weaving in stories that unfolds like a well-written pastoral novel.

Good farming perspective, too many children!
Revisado: 08-13-24
Interesting and important insight and view on our modern agricultural problems. This family is working hard to achieve sustainable farming. Kudos to their vision and perseverance. The irony is that our modern destructive agricultural practices are the result of overpopulation which she seems totally ignorant of, Four children for 2 people hasn’t been defensible since the 1950s. And, she complains thru 75% of the book about the work and exhaustion of these kids, her choice!

Historia
Graham is a detective inspector with London’s Metropolitan police force. He’s a career police officer, an educated, reserved, thoughtful, some might say, complex man. He has suffered tragedy in his life that serves to exaggerate his more introspective characteristics and, like many of us, has to look his demons in the eye from time to time and make tough choices. This box set contains the first four mysteries in this bestselling series.

Historia
Kim Stanley Robinson first ventured into the Sierra Nevada mountains during the summer of 1973. He returned from that encounter a changed man, awed by a landscape that made him feel as if he were simultaneously strolling through an art museum and scrambling on a jungle gym like an energized child. He has returned to the mountains throughout his life—more than a hundred trips—and has gathered a vast store of knowledge about them. The High Sierra is his lavish celebration of this exceptional place.

Revisado: 04-10-23
This book was so interesting, a thorough history of the music scene over many decades. Her memoir also details an amazing zest for life, and the ability to rebound from setbacks. Hearing how songs are written was all new for me. And, her amazing story unfolds, as she searches for the best way to live. We are lucky we can listen to the full range of her emotions, read by the author, and her feelings over the years. Following her journey is a gift.

Knitting yarns is a fascinating view into the lives of authors.
Revisado: 10-23-15
This book has a variety of types of knitters and authors. It was really fun to listen to the craft of writing while also hearing the knitting story of each author. I have read many of these authors, so it was fun to hear their knitting success and failure, it made them seem like friends.
This book should be interesting to any knitter, and to readers who enjoy these authors, since many of the stories are autobiographical.
