Historia
With her knack for being in trouble's way, Sookie witnesses the firebombing of Merlotte's, the bar where she works. Since Sam Merlotte is now known to be two-natured, suspicion falls immediately on the anti-shifters in the area. Sookie suspects otherwise, but her attention is divided when she realizes that her lover, Eric Northman, and his "child", Pam, are plotting to kill the vampire who is now their master. Gradually, Sookie is drawn into the plot - which is much more complicated than she knows.

My Favorite So Far

What did you love best about Dead Reckoning?
I loved that you got more of Sookie's family history and how a certain lawyer had a play in that. Loved that Sookie has undergone a lot of changes and I think her reaction to things are certainly going to affect her personal relationships, seems like she's on the verge of making some difficult decisions about some people in her life. I know some people though that she was too down in this book but come-on, she's not the same person as when Bill first walked into the bar - she's killed people, been tortured, not too mention someone tries to kill her 3-4 times in every book. Shoot - you'd start to be a bit of a pessimist too. Just my opinion:)
What did you like best about this story?
I love the character, love that she is so relatable. She's not interested in becoming a vampire like so many other female leads in these types of novels. Love the sense of humor that Ms. Harris brings into these books, and I find myself giggling out loud sometimes. I can't wait for May to come for the next book!
What about Johanna Parker’s performance did you like?
Excellent, best narrator ever.

Historia
Since half-vampire Cat Crawfield and her undead lover Bones met six years ago, they’ve fought against the rogue undead, battled a vengeful Master vampire, and pledged their devotion with a blood bond. Now it’s time for a vacation. But their hopes for a perfect Paris holiday are dashed when Cat awakes one night in terror. She’s having visions of a vampire named Gregor, who’s more powerful than Bones and has ties to her past that even Cat herself didn’t know about.

Disappointing...in my opinion
Revisado: 03-29-12
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Yes, I drive long hours so it did keep me entertained but I was cursing Cat out most of the time.
Would you be willing to try another book from Jeaniene Frost? Why or why not?
Yes, but I was disappointed with this one.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
Yes.
Any additional comments?
First off, the narrator makes Gregor sound like Borat...it was so painful for me to hear. I love Bones' character but his voice is annoying as well - but I can deal, Gregor was another story...horrible (kept picturing Sasha Baron Cohen). I was definitely on Team Bones w/ this book - Cat was very annoying and I hated the double standards where she was so quick to assume the worst with Bones when she herself made horrible decision after another (imagine if someone would have been snapping photos when she was at a certain famous vampires house...in bed with him). Oh my goodness I was cursing her out the whole way home. I don't want to spoil the book so I won't give any spoilers but I just didn't feel this book fit the characters that had been portrayed in the first 3 books. They were so unfamiliar and neurotic -felt like a forced fight and as a result, the predictable separation, then reunion. Hated the Gregor storyline and the changes that Cat underwent came out of nowhere caught me totally off guard, seemed rushed to me. I'll still read additional book was I can't say I really enjoyed this like the first 3 books.
