Historia
No one knew why brilliant, gentle Bastion lived his life by a seemingly arcane set of rules, including a strange manner of speech and an inability to say his own name. Now the remaining members of North Coven—Nesbit, Dove, Drea, and Brandy—vow to get answers. Nothing can prepare them for what they uncover: Bastion had been locked in a terrifying battle of wits and wills with something living deep beneath an ancient mausoleum in the local cemetery. North Coven must confront the red-gloved monster that took piece after piece of Bastion, that he fought until his last breath.

Caught my attention early, kept it to the end
Revisado: 07-10-24
This is exactly the kind of book I was looking for, a new book to share with my socially aware teenage niece who loves a good paranormal mystery with interesting LGBTQ+ characters. I am looking forward to sharing this with her and will definitely read more by this author.

Deserves a rewrite to expand details
Revisado: 07-05-21
I am enjoying the story, however there are lots of areas that I wish the author had explored with much more detail. For example, they take a 3 day trip to an island. There is a purpose for being there, but there could have been lots of exploration of relationships between "families" and their members. I expected to learn more about the attendees or the island instead of it just servivg a way to transition to the events for wrapping up the story. It feels to me like there are deeper levels that could be explored that would enjoyably flesh out multiple storylines. I hope the author reads this and considers a redo on this series.

But it takes on a life of its own as she comes to know the women who have worn the dress.

Extremely satisfying wrap up to series
Revisado: 01-20-16
What did you like best about this story?
Major elements from the beginning of the series were accounted for in the final story and built on earlier themes, e.g., balance. Earlier in the series there was a good deal of demonstration of how the gift is balanced in additive and subtractive magic. The last few books introduced Occult Magic as the balance for The Gift.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I cried when Cara died. There was so much going on at that point in the story, I was able to overlook that I wanted more explanation of where she was, what she had been doing, how she knew when to come back, etc. (Maybe another book?)
Any additional comments?
There were details that I felt were rushed or explained instead of demonstrated in the story line. Given a choice, I would have been happy see the details expanded a bit more, even if it meant an additional book in the series. However, I am glad that they were "handled" instead of just being excluded from the story. I wanted an ending to the series and this tied the details from earlier books into the details of the Richard and Kahlan books to wrap the series up for me. This ending feels very satisfying to me. Thank you, Mr. Goodkind!

Historia
Melanie is a very special girl. Dr. Caldwell calls her "our little genius". Every morning, Melanie waits in her cell to be collected for class. When they come for her, Sergeant keeps his gun pointing at her while two of his people strap her into the wheelchair. She thinks they don't like her. She jokes that she won't bite, but they don't laugh. Melanie loves school. She loves learning about spelling and sums and the world outside the classroom and the children's cells. She tells her favorite teacher all the things she'll do when she grows up.

Great zombie book for the non-zombie fan
Revisado: 11-08-15
What did you like best about this story?
I thought I was listening to a post-apocalyptic story (which I love) and was even more thrilled to find about halfway through that it was also a zombie story, which I also love.
Any additional comments?
I loved how Melanie just sees herself as any other little girl. By the time I understood that Melanie and the other children are more than just children, I was hooked on Melanie and really wanted a happy ending for her. Twisted ending that I loved and hated. Can't wait to see if there is a sequel.
This is a book that I will return to again and again. It is added to the short list of books I love and will reread again and again.

Historia
On a night flight from London to Boston, Ted Severson meets the stunning and mysterious Lily Kintner. Sharing one too many martinis, the strangers begin to play a game of truth, revealing very intimate details about themselves. Ted talks about his marriage that's going stale and his wife, Miranda, who he's sure is cheating on him. Ted and his wife were a mismatch from the start - he the rich businessman, she the artistic free spirit - a contrast that once inflamed their passion but has now become a cliché.

Enjoyable...
Revisado: 10-22-15
Would you listen to The Kind Worth Killing again? Why?
Yes. I enjoyed how details were revealed from years previous and tied into events as they happened in the book's timeline. I would listen for more clues that I would recognize as being relevant later in the story.
What did you like best about this story?
The suspense and how the details were revealed slowly.

Historia
Kate Freeman opened the front door of her vacation villa to a wolf in sheep’s clothing. A few moments later, fifty thousand paralyzing volts shot through her body. Her world went dark; and when she awoke, her family was torn apart forever. After months of agonizing physical therapy to heal the vicious wounds to her body, the Kate who emerged was no longer the loving mother, sister, and friend from before. The Kate who survived was something much different. Something much darker.

Loved it
Revisado: 10-22-15
Any additional comments?
Some scenes felt like watching a movie through your fingers because you cannot look away and cannot bear to see what is going to happen next. Some parts were a bit stale ("the court system always fails the victim") but I could not help but cheer as the main character found her strength. The voyeur in my liked the peek into psycho guy's head.
I was surprised at how the story ended. I am hopeful that there will other books to follow.

Historia
It was supposed to be a vacation - and a chance to get to know one another better. But when a massive storm sets in without warning, four kids are shipwrecked alone on a rocky, jungle island in the middle of the South Pacific. No adults. No instructions. Nobody to rely on but themselves. Can they make it home alive? A week ago, the biggest challenge Vanessa, Buzz, Carter, and Jane had was learning to live as a new, blended family. Now the four siblings must find a way to work together if they're going to make it off the island. But first they've got to learn to survive one another.

Passed some time, though not memorable
Revisado: 10-22-15
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I would probably not recommend this book to a friend. I remember reading a couple of weeks ago and I remember that there are kids stuck on an island without adults. I don't remember if or how they were rescued. I am not willing to listen to it again to recall the ending.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
Most interesting is how the kids' strengths benefited their group. Least interesting...has to be the ending, since I don't remember it.

In a world as rich and real as our own, Richard Rahl and Kahlan Amnell stand against the ancient forces which besiege the New World - forces so terrible that when last they threatened, they could only be withstood by sealing off the Old World from whence they came. Now the barrier has been breached, and the New World is again beset by their evil power.

Great story...
Revisado: 10-22-15
What did you love best about Blood of the Fold?
The story
What did you like best about this story?
How small details from previous books end up in this story, with more detail
What about Buck Schirner’s performance did you like?
The chuckle in his voice when he voices Zed.
Any additional comments?
There are many comments about Schirner's narration. I preferred his narration over the one used for book 2. I am now into Book 4 (Temple of the Winds) and I am finding that narrator much more challenging to endure. I enjoyed Schirner's interpretation of different people.
