To tell the truth, I never had these thoughts explained to me before this book. I would ask about the trinity, and the answers were...well they never "showed their work". I was given analogies, which was well and good to say just how unified God is, but in the case of "three persons in one", it never made sense.

This is perhaps my first true theology book that was more on a metaphysic type than the ethical/virtue type. This is something I think I can return to and get great benefit.

yes yes, im going back to the Bible, don't you worry.

I am considering a life of writing and this has helped me both gain a confidence and a caution for what I am getting myself into. Yes, it was meant for a time before videogames and the internet, BUT it still has those foundational thoughts and approaches that I wonder how anyone comes by besides being hounded by critics.

I always thought that pain had its place in creation, but beyond drawing attention to problems and preventing wrongful progress; I wasn't sure. This is an excellent essay for the layman on the earthly and divine aspects of pain, even thoughts on the pain pf animals.

The book is about a drinking party that decides to bring up a topic about the Greek god, Eros. Eros, being the god of love, attracted the party-goers towards how love is portrayed and how it rewards those who perform it, by giving a kind of praise to Eros.

But then when it was Socrates turn, he used his usual method to attempt to get to what love truly was and why. Intriguing how the ancient world approaches the subject.

The reading was superb! I almost felt like I was that friend invited to the party, hoping no one asks me to contribute to the conversation and let me drink my wine in peace. (I listened to this as work, so I didn't get to drink wine D: )

The story was ok but was little bit like culture shock. It was easy to follow, as long as you have some idea of Greek mythology (which i somewhat lack). But don't worry, if you keep listening and have google at the ready, it isn't impossible.

At this point you should know this is philosophy so a juicy love story is a quest best searched elsewhere.

tl;dr interesting and awkward.

this is my favorite and first book by terry pratchett. i find it inspiring in my attempts at writing fiction myself. has a way of stirring vitriolic emotions. (as in immersion, it isn't a controversial story)

A good resource for any Christian looking to get another perspective on who God is and how we ought to think of him in our actions and prayers.
