I downloaded this book thinking,"time travel action/adventure! Yay! Ok maybe there will be a little romance but that's ok." Cut to: "Ok...it's mostly romance. And sex SOOOO much sex. That's fine though I can readjust." But Gabaldon lost me when Claire decided that sure, it's totally fine that Jamie beat her "within an inch of her life."...Seriously? I mean I know the 1740's were like that and all, but for this particular character to acquiesce is just pathetic. Outlander is like Fifty Shades' and Twilight's slightly more educated (but seriously sadistic) cousin. Praying the mini series did a better job.
