Exposed as the Second Dreamer, Araminta has become the target of a galaxywide search by government agent Paula Myo and the psychopath known as the Cat, along with others equally determined to prevent---or facilitate---the pilgrimage of the Living Dream cult into the heart of the Void. An indestructible microuniverse, the Void may contain paradise, as the cultists believe, but it is also a deadly threat. I want John Lee to stop narrating ALL (EVERY SINGLE) space opera.
Revisado: 01-04-25
Why is there ONE reader for my favorite authors? Only ONE for my favorite genre?
4 hours from TRILOGY completion and I’m trying so hard; I’m tryin so very very hard to care, and to listen to Lee say blabidyblahskidyblaaahhh and blahdiBOOM new chapter or character and no warning. I’m so sad that the best authors clearly owe this guy a favor or something.
Thanks for the mammories and get Lee to a nunnery.

Historia
Raithe, the God Killer, may have started the rebellion by killing a Fhrey, but longstanding enmities dividing the Rhune make it all but impossible to unite against the common foe. And even if the clans can join forces, how will they defeat an enemy whose magical prowess renders them indistinguishable from gods? The answer lies across the sea in a faraway land populated by a reclusive and dour race who feel nothing but disdain for both Fhrey and mankind.

This author and series is really very very fine. At no point did I feel that it was *trying.*
I am going forward with excitement in this authors works, and highly recommend the narrator’s other series Red Rising. There are some very eerie overarching similarities between the two authors’ series, and made more astounding by the grand differences in setting! They are almost a yin Yang match made in Alexandria. (Book heaven.)

Historia
In Age of Myth, fantasy master Michael J. Sullivan launched audiences on an epic journey of magic and adventure, heroism and betrayal, love and loss. Now the thrilling saga continues as the human uprising is threatened by powerful enemies from without—and bitter rivalries from within. Raithe, the God Killer, may have started the rebellion by killing a Fhrey, but long-standing enmities dividing the Rhunes make it all but impossible to unite against the common foe. And even if the clans can join forces, how will they defeat an enemy whose magical prowess renders them indistinguishable from gods?

It is early 1942. You are in San Francisco, and you need a private eye. Sam Spade is rumored to be in Istanbul. The Continental Op has been drafted and is a sergeant in the Aleutians. Philip Marlowe is up at Little Fawn Lake investigating the disappearance of Mrs. Derace Kingsley. Lew Archer is in the army. Who's left? Nobody but C. Card. You haven't heard of C. Card? That's all right. Nobody has.

Ridiculous and amazing
Revisado: 07-10-23
I’m not sure how I would’ve felt after closing the physical book, but this narrator made the book come to life, and he has surpassed my expectations. I don’t often stray from my genre of choice, or in this case, authors that have meant a great deal to me in the past, but I am going to seek out whatever books I can get my hands on, that are narrated by Mr. Pinchot

My cut and paste reviewer review.
Revisado: 06-11-23
I enjoy every book I read. Because I choose to. Negative reviews often reflect the general outlook of the person with two thumbs and zero therapists. [I would like to see reviewer-reviews, only so that the authors could find redemption beyond the negative effects of small minds.] I don’t leave many reviews as I feel that my (by happenstance, properly grammatical,) response to any read should have no impact on others. Take a leap of faith and then like it or don’t. Furthermore, I wish that many of you who happen to have two ears to hear, that it doesn’t necessarily mean you can listen, or even that there is anything between them.. Simply put, if you don’t not know nothing about how to make goodly grammar sentence, type words good or at least -GOD FORBID- check your spelling before sending out your claim on intellect, then don’t talk at the other people in book club!

Lanik Mueller is a "rad" - radical regenerative - a freak who can regenerate injured flesh...and trade extra body parts to the Offworld oppressors for iron. On a planet without hard metals, or the means of escape, iron offers the promise of freedom through the chance to build a spacecraft. But it is a promise which may never be fulfilled, as Lanik uncovers a treacherous conspiracy beyond his imagination.

Perfect story. I disagree with other critics.
Revisado: 03-17-23
One critic isn’t impressed with the characters. There are characters in this book that are among some of the most interesting in all my years of reading. One person used the word “fantasy” in their review; this is not the right word but I see what they meant. This book is very much-so listener-friendly, it is nearly not science fiction but DEFINITELY does not tread into the fantasy category (in my humbler-than-thou opinion!)
Also hey- I’m equally curious about the horses with nazi names (which were mentioned only once,) but let’s ask the genius why he wrote that in… Furthermore, if one can’t get past the black savages thing as a literary device to show the ignorance of ruling classes and slams the book shut, then one won’t find out that those savages provided amazing [spoiler censored] that would leave all others shamefully inferior to them. Finish the book. Every page matters. So there. :-P
I am glad that I disregarded these reviews which nearly persuaded me to pass over this title.
I got more than I expected, the overarching plot is very neat and the ending is classy and very well-done. Rarely does the end of a book satisfy me, and even more scarce is a good ending also as simple and organic as this.
5 stars for how superbly packaged this really neat story was.
Archiving this title.

Historia
The once-utopian Chasm City - a domed human settlement on an otherwise inhospitable planet---has been overrun by a virus known as the Melding Plague, capable of infecting any body, organic or computerized. Now, with the entire city corrupted - from the people to the very buildings they inhabit---only the most wretched sort of existence remains. The stakes are raised when Tanner Mirabel's search brings him face to face with a centuries-old atrocity that history would rather forget.

Not even finished reading
Revisado: 02-17-23
Although some might feel inclined to take out the pedantic microscope, their notebook from 12th grade literature class and bore me with the tired nitpicking of a freelance editor, this book- this story- this creation is phenomenal. It could’ve ended a few times already, but it goes on; it’s continuity through a bigger and bigger picture is graceful.
If you complain about the narration, then by all means record yourself reading a thousand books. John Lee: you have my A+ and I’ll never judge you.

Six million years ago, at the very dawn of the starfaring era, Abigail Gentian fractured herself into a thousand male and female clones: the shatterlings. Sent out into the galaxy, these shatterlings have stood aloof as they document the rise and fall of countless human empires. Unprecedented Temporal Scope
Revisado: 12-04-22
I cannot recommend this book highly enough. The creativity, imagination, multi-level plot and pure vastness of time periods contained within such a well-controlled neatly packaged story is something like I’ve only briefly caught glimpses of in other books I love. Alastair has a seat at the head table with the other greats such as Asimov, Clark, etc. in my opinion.
I will continue on with only this author in my navigational console for the foreseeable future. I’ll send word back through a worm hole.

Revisado: 06-14-22
Although it may be easy to do within the first half of this book, I must warn you: do not listen with one ear. I have to revisit this sometime.
Is it a spoiler if it’s outside of comprehension to he who fears he is spoiling? The events in the second half of this this book accelerated away from and towards me at near light speed!
I am slack-jawed and not disappointed whatsoever! 👏
