Quite entertaining.

Historia
Former Broadway dancer and current agoraphobic Billy Shine has not set foot outside his apartment in almost a decade. He has glimpsed his neighbors--beautiful manicurist Rayleen, lonely old Ms. Hinman, bigoted and angry Mr. Lafferty, kind-hearted Felipe, and nine-year-old Grace and her former addict mother, Eileen. But most of them have never seen Billy. Not until Grace begins to sit outside on the building's front stoop for hours every day, inches from Billy's patio.

What a fantastic book. The detail is interesting. I could barely stop listening. The narrator is so good. I’m especially interested as some of my ancestors were in Virginia at that time. Over all an excellent book.

Boring and difficult to follow
Revisado: 07-25-23
I love Steve Berry novels but I found this one boring, predictable and difficult to follow. Use of the language in the prayers and other documents (real or made up) was very difficult to follow or understand for me. I also found the unwinding of the story quite predictable. Overall not the best Steve Berry novel.

Wonderful story
Revisado: 05-22-23
This story touched my heart deeply. I just loved it. I actually remember a TV program years ago about people moving into and building wonderful, unique homes and creating a community in the small dairy farms area mentioned in the book. Many lived on the dole and called it useful use of the benefit. The timing in the story matches real life in that respect.

Loved this story
Revisado: 09-28-22
This story hit home as I spent a few years in India. While I saw the poverty I must admit that I didn’t have quite the same reactions as I could see how the people worked hard to make a go of it. The stealing and maiming of children was particularly horrible. I stayed in one room houses with dirt floors and small kerosene stoves as well as nicer houses, though never the really wealthy houses. It would have been wonderful to have been able to do what she did. I did tutor school kids and help in a school setup by an ashram in Delhi. I have to say I very much loved my time in India so this story brought some of it back.

Historia
The Chopra brothers were among the most eager and ambitious of the new generation. In the 1970s, they each emigrated to the United States to make a new life. Both faced tough obstacles: while Deepak encountered resistance from Western-trained doctors over what he called the mind-body connection, Sanjiv struggled to reconcile the beliefs of his birthplace with those of his new home. Eventually, each brother became convinced that America was the right place to build a life, and the Chopras went on to great achievements.

Very interesting
Revisado: 02-05-20
I found this story very interesting. I have been interested in Deepak's message for a number of years. I lived in India for a couple of years but still learned a lot about India from this story. I was also interested in their story about immigration and adaptation to their new home. Even more so as I was born and lived in the US for 28 years. Then I left and really have no wish now, after almost 50 years, to return. Things have changed so much. I was especially interested in what they found good. I really enjoyed hearing about the brothers journeys in life and how they got to where they were at the writing of this book. Very easy to follow this story.
