Great for a beginner
Revisado: 06-17-23
I absolutely love the author and narrator (Mark Frobose) because he’s sharp and to that point with the language. I feel like he’s one of the best. Unfortunately this was a bit too redundant for me and I was hoping for something a bit more intensive (upper level) and new. Also, I’m not sure if there was a glitch with the recordings but the second half of the book is just a repetition of the first part. That was super annoying. I kept waiting for some golden nuggets of new conversational vocabulary. Lastly, as another reviewer mentioned, I’d rather learn more helpful phrases other than “non ho soldi,” or “ho bisogno di andare adesso.”
That said, I listened to the entire book and still appreciate and value the author. Additionally, I would highly recommend this book (and other books) written by Mark to an audience with more of a beginner level. I’ll always be a huge fan and certainly gleaned a few new things from this book, so while it wasn’t PERFECT, it was still worthwhile.
I’d be thrilled if the author came out with a more advanced audio book that might help more advanced learners by way of typical conversation pieces and responses, as well as some commonly used idiomatic expressions.

MUST READ!!! AMAZING….
Revisado: 10-25-21
This is an incredible book, I wish all doctors would be required to read this! I was interested in this book because my hormone tests revealed high levels of estrogen. Of course my idiot doctors first response was to give me estrogen!!!! (Big surprise)
I also had no menstruation for four years and now have osteopenia at 42!!!
This book shares such a wealth of information, I wish I had read it 10 years ago. Ladies, please read this book -you will learn so much. We live in a time where we really need to take our health into our own hands. We have to educate ourselves. This book is a winner.

The culture of “safety” and its intolerance of opposing viewpoints has left many young people anxious and unprepared for adult life. Lukianoff and Haidt offer a comprehensive set of reforms that will strengthen young people and institutions, allowing us all to reap the benefits of diversity, including viewpoint diversity. This is a book for anyone who is confused by what’s happening on college campuses today, or has children, or is concerned about the growing inability of Americans to live and work and cooperate across party lines.

A must read!!
Revisado: 08-31-21
Great read. I feel like all high school students
& college students & adults should read this book. Parents please read! The author nails it. What a great perspective. We live in a call-out culture where any ideas that go against our own are considered a total threat and violate our safety. Instead of being exposed to controversy or alternate perspectives, we instantly vilify the “other.” This only hinders us and keeps us “safe” amidst our very own confirmation bias bubble. It’s OK to talk about and discuss things that might spark debate. It might even trigger a bad reaction in us, oh my! Learning from different perspectives and opposing views can also strengthen our own convictions, and/or open our minds to things we may not have considered - or may have always deemed “wrong.”
We live in such a weird world now where it’s all about sides and us vs. them mindset. Pick a side, pick a political party, and don’t let the enemies prevail! Blah blah. What if we actually realized we all have a common ground, a common suffering, a common goal to be happy and joyous? We’re teaching our kids not to deal with adversity or controversy -and to quickly blame and vilify others. We focus on tests and academics and forget about play. We forget about letting them learn along the way through discovery and experience and an open mind!

Contrary to conventional wisdom, chronic disease is not genetically predetermined but results from a mismatch between our genes and environment and lifestyle. What we call a "disease" is the outcome of an imbalance in one or more of the seven core physiological processes. Leveraging a lifetime on the cutting edge of research and practice, Dr. Jeffrey S. Bland lays out a road map for good health by helping us understand these processes and the root causes of chronic illness.

Decent read for a newbie! Well done.
Revisado: 08-21-21
This is a really decent book, it might be a bit sophomoric for those more well- versed in this field….but overall it was worth reading and I did learn a few new things. He does miss the mark by not including the importance of K2 when supplementing with vitamin D, and he also recommends soy without talking about some of the dangers of it. He should be recommending fermented soy instead if one must have or want it. I think it’s great that the author (an MD) understands the power and benefit of functional medicine. He’s a bright, intelligent person and manages to encompass numerous key points when it comes to a healthy lifestyle.
I think this is a great start for many people and I feel like all medical doctors should, at the very least, read this book. Other books to consider down the road are Jason Fung‘s obesity code, the diabetes code, as well as Never Fear Cancer Again, and Gut and psychology syndrome. I also highly recommend Ben Greenfield‘s book boundless.

Historia
Gut Reactions by chemist Simon Quellen Field shows us how our bodies react to food and the environment, and how our brain affects what and how much we eat, and in turn, is affected by what we eat. It shows why some diets work for some people but not for others, based on genetics, previous weight history, brain chemistry, environmental cues, and social pressures. It explores how dozens of hormones affect hunger and satiety and interact with the brain and the gut to regulate feeding behavior.

Fantastic. You’ll listen to it more than once!
Revisado: 04-12-19
I have listened to this book about three times and I always keep getting new and wonderful insights each time. The narration is excellent because it comes from the author himself; you really feel his words, simplicity, depth and sincerity. His voice is so soothing and pleasant to hear. This is a great book, it isn’t some “woo woo” self help book and the author doesn’t tell you to just send positive thoughts out to the universe and everything is going to be perfect. Rather, this is a very real simple and touching collection of powerful words and thoughts that make sense and resonate completely. Good stuff. It’s not wishy washy or sappy. It’s just kind of amazing! Highly recommend. You don’t need to be some spiritual nut to reap the beauty of this book. Real life stuff here!

How would you like to experience your life? It's an intriguing question, and yet we've been conditioned to believe our life visions and goals are often unattainable - until now. With The Possibility Principle, psychotherapist Mel Schwartz offers a revolutionary approach to living the life we choose. Though science has vastly expanded our knowledge, it has also led us to adopt a worldview where we see ourselves as insignificant specks living in a mechanical universe.

Revisado: 02-18-19
This is a golden nugget. It’s not filled with fluff and filler or tedious stories. I’ve already listened to many of the chapters twice. Great read for the intelligent and discerning reader who isn’t in the mood to hear someone trail off on stories or ideas that add little value. This is book is damn good; it is poignant, incredibly well spoken, well put together, and highly engaging. I’ll listen to it again and again. Fantastic narrative as well. This is all coming from someone who returns 3/4 of the audible books because they lack any substantive or unique quality. Trust me, this is a keeper.

Lots of good info, nice narration, and pleasant to listen to. Valuable.
Revisado: 12-23-18
I originally returned the book because the initial chapters were a bit elementary. Later on, I gave it a second shot and really started to enjoy it and take a lot away from it. I may even listen to it again, as many of the tools and insight given are just helpful reminders of things to pay attention to in life; gratitude, sunlight, etc. Asprey also makes note of some bright contributors to the world of health and biohacking which adds extra value to the book. Overall, it’s really a decent collection of information, thoughts and insight. Excellent book for a novice reader and still valuable for those with a deeper level of knowledge in the field as well. The narration is very nicely done, which is a huge bonus these days as so many of the audio books have really lame narrators. Asprey’s voice is awesome.
