LOVE
Revisado: 10-15-20
I love this series. I've come back again to listen to the audio as I've decided to I need to reread the series before I start Brothersong to fully appreciate the ending of this series.
Kirt Graves is so enjoyable to listen to, and he makes it easy to differentiate between the characters when conversations are occurring. 5 stars for both the story and performance.

Historia
The last thing she needs after running from one monster is to land in the lair of the devil. Twenty-one-year-old Ember flees her past with soot on her face, ash in her hair, and a promise. She'll never let another man take away her freedom and treat her like she means nothing. But that is exactly what Maverick Gunn, leader of the notorious Harbingers of Chaos motorcycle club, seeks to do from the moment his lethal gaze locks on her. He burns her with every look. Every touch. Every word.

pleasantly surprised by narration
Revisado: 10-11-20
It's been 4 years since I initially read Burning Ember, and as I don't really read MC much anymore it has taken me a while to come back and listen to the audio. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with how good the audio was - I didn't realise until I started listening that it was duet narration, both narrators were new to me, and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to both of them.
Maverick Gunn, otherwise known as Mav or Luce, was a real douche to Ember many times throughout the story. He takes his time admitting his attraction, but when he finally does his trust issues often get in the way and mess things up all over again. Ember has been through a lot, but she's pretty determined and possesses the strength of character needed to try and change her circumstances. As far as MC's go, this one is probably a little darker in content at times, and may have triggers for some readers.
The author doesn't appear to have written anything since 2015, but this book and the following novella have satisfying endings.

such a great audio
Revisado: 07-09-20
WHY did I not listen to this audio earlier???? The narration was AMAZING! I was constantly smiling and laughing, Michael Lesley did such a wonderful performance. I especially adored Tiggy, every time he spoke I smiled. SO GOOD.
The Lightning-Struck Heart was so much fun - it was different, quirky and really funny. I enjoyed all of the characters. Sam Haversford, also known as Sam the Wizards Apprentice and Sam of Wilds plus his sidekicks Gary the hornless gay unicorn and Tiggy the Half Giant kept me smiling and laughing throughout this book with their antics and conversations.
Ryan Foxheart, the dashing and immaculate knight added lots of sexual tension, and it was such a slow burn romance.......especially with Ryan having Prince Justin as his boyfriend!! *HaveHeart* forever!!

short and sweet
Revisado: 06-01-20
Ain't He Precious? was such a sweet and cute second chance romance. The 2 main characters Trixie and Ryland (Ry) get the second chance that neither realised just how much they both wanted and needed. The timing for their HEA wasn't right the first time around, but it just might be the second.
Lots of banter and chemistry between these 2. Trixie's family are both fun and a little nutty at times. Spending time with them, Ry finally starts to understand why Trixie made the decisions she did.
This was a very quick listen, with 3 narrators. I enjoyed the performances of the narrators for both Trixie and Ry. Pa Mancinkus has a few chapters, and although I usually really enjoy the performances of the narrator that voiced this character, this time I felt that he just didn't suit the character of Pa (Trixie's 81 year old grandfather) at all. His voice didn't match to the character.

Jason Thorn...my brother's childhood friend. Oh, how stupidly in love with that boy I was. He was the first boy who made me blush, my first official crush. Sounds beautiful so far, right? That excitement that bubbles up inside you, those famous butterflies you feel for the very first time - he was the reason for them all. But you get to live in that fairy tale world only until they crush your hopes and dreams and then stomp on your heart for good measure. And boy did he crush my little heart into pieces.

Story = 4 1/2 stars
Revisado: 06-01-20
To Love Jason Thorn and To Hate Adam Connor are to date my favourite books from Ella Maise. It has been a while since I've read both, so I'm doing the audio versions for this reread. This book was a lot of fun to read, and the audio is REALLY good. Sebastian York does such a great performance as Jason Thorn, and Lidia Dornet is equally as good as Olive.
Jason Thorn and his "little one". I love how he calls her that. Poor Olive - after having a childhood crush on her brother's best friend and losing contact when he moves away, to then come face to face with him again now that he is a movie star that will be playing lead role for the movie adaptation for her book. These 2 are just too cute together, shy Olive is just perfect for Jason, even if he doesn't know it yet.

When you're a defense attorney in Washington, DC, you see firsthand how hard life can be and that sometimes the only way to survive is to be harder. I have a reputation for being cold, callous, and intimidating - and that suits me just fine. In fact it's necessary when I'm breaking down a witness on the stand.

Historia
Twenty-six-year-old Gaby Barreto might be a lot of things (loyal, sarcastic, one of the guys, and a pain in the butt, depending on which family member you ask), but dumb isn't one of them. When her twin brother invites her to go on tour as his band's merch girl, she isn't exactly screaming at the top of her lungs with joy. But with no job opportunities pounding on her door, an ex-boyfriend she would still like to castrate, and no end in sight to moving out of her parents' house in Dallas, it would be dumb to say no to the chance of a lifetime.

Rereading an old fav via audio. Love Gaby and Sacha, the rest of the guys, all the fun banter, sarcasm and slow burn goodness of Rhythm, Chord & Malykhin. The narration grew on me across the story, however I wasn't a huge fan of the narrator's male voices.

Never borrow pants from your brother. Especially if he’s a size smaller than you are, because all that pressure in the junk will short-circuit your brain. And you’ll lie to a woman in a club about your real name. Leave her unsatisfied after making out in a bathroom. Then find out that she’s the one thing standing in the way of your dreams. And she very much doesn’t like being lied to. Now I have to convince Lila Valentine - the woman I can’t stop thinking about, my biggest regret, and my new boss - that I’m what’s best for the baseball team she’s inherited.

The audio of Liar, Liar, Hearts on Fire was a lot of fun to listen to. Loved both the narrators, their characterisations of the kids voices worked well also.
This story is filled with humour, fun banter and LOL moments. A little bit of mystery is present also in regards to Lila's background. Tripp's 2 young children James and Emma add a lot of humour to the story, especially James with his love of animals.....what he managed to sneak into an important business meeting with his Dad was hilarious.

Revisado: 04-24-20
How I love this series! I love Makenna Wray, the superstitious and quirky loner wolf who at first doesn't seem to be a good match for the brooding and serious Ryan Conner, but she is actually perfect for him. Exactly what he needs in his life.
Both the Phoenix and Mercury pack have the same narrator all the way through both series, and she does such a fantastic performance of all the different characters, both male and female. I'm half way through my reread of this series via audio, and I'm enjoying following the recommended reading order between the 2 series.

Not my fav of the series
Revisado: 04-13-20
Rereading the whole series via audio, which is the only reason why I've reread Carnal Secrets. I LOVE the Phoenix and Mercury Pack series, and I really like Shaya and Nick in all the other books, but their book is the least favourite of mine across both the now completed series. I've reread all the other books, but in the past have always skipped coming back to Carnal Secrets.
Shaya takes so long to come around and forgive Nick - yes he acted like a douche, he had his reasons for doing so which at the time were unknown to Shaya, but her indecisiveness just went on for too long. I had to speed up the audio for the first 5 1/2 hours to get past that, and move onto the next more enjoyable part of the story.
What I did enjoy about Carnal Secrets was Shaya and Nick once Shaya moved past her issues, plus the introduction of many of the wolves, such as Bracken, Jesse and Zander, that go on to make up the Mercury Pack. And Ronnie! The story picked up a lot more in the second half and was more engaging.
Did I enjoy Carnal Secrets as much as all of the other books in the series.....NO. Do I still have Carnal Secrets in ebook, paperback and audio.....YES. It is part of a favourite series of mine, so therefore had to get them to complete my collections.
