Terrible
Revisado: 06-26-24
The story was rushed and predictable with very little character development. The premise could have been great, but not executed well at all.

Historia
The summer in question started out with hot, fun-filled days and new friendships. We had just turned thirteen and had our whole lives ahead of us. But that was before her. Before we became known as the Hixton Five and our lives become defined by one night. It’s hard to believe twenty years have passed since she was locked away. But now she’s free and strange things have started to happen. When I close my eyes, the creeping anxiety and fear is overwhelming and all too real. Because the monster is back, and I know she has a score to settle with us.

Unique story with a twist I didn’t see coming
Revisado: 05-15-24
I enjoyed the story, but the narrator almost made me quit listening pretty early on. Her inflections are strange and kinda detract from the overall story. I powered through though because I wanted to know more and couldn’t leave it unfinished.

Not quite thriller, but not quite romance
Revisado: 04-14-24
This was a great story, but I would not classify it as a thriller or even a mystery necessarily. There is some elements of both, but not in a gruesome or graphic sense. There is quite a bit of romance involved as well. While my tastes usually tend to the darker side when it comes to thrillers, mysteries, and suspense, and I almost always shy away from romances, I found it to be quite enjoyable. The only thing I found a bit disconcerting was the cadence of the narrator’s voice. I can’t put my finger on what it is exactly, but it sounded odd to me. So much so that I almost didn’t get past the second chapter. Overall, I am glad I decided to stick it out.

Good story, but

I have enjoyed the series so far, but I really wish that the narrator was the same as the first three books…took some getting used to….

Great story, but...
Revisado: 08-17-19
The narrator has an accent that almost kept me from listening to this book. At first, I thought it was just because she was reading slow, so I tried making it play a little faster. Nope. It was definitely the accent. For example, she pronounces “eat” as “et” and “anything” as “ennythin.” If you can get past that or used to it, the story is great! Very glad I continued listening!
