Easy Listen
Revisado: 10-28-24
I needed a breezy story to listen to after listening to an excellent but intense book. This one filled the bill.

Historia
Women can be heroes. When twenty-year-old nursing student Frances “Frankie” McGrath hears these words, it is a revelation. Raised in the sun-drenched, idyllic world of Southern California and sheltered by her conservative parents, she has always prided herself on doing the right thing. But in 1965, the world is changing, and she suddenly dares to imagine a different future for herself. When her brother ships out to serve in Vietnam, she joins the Army Nurse Corps and follows his path.

The Story Had to be Told
Revisado: 10-26-24
I have never listened to/read a book that made me cry so much but at the same time didn’t want it to end. It is such a powerful story that had to be told. It is disgraceful how our Vietnam vets were treated by the government and citizens upon their return. The PTSD is real. The effects of Agent Orange are real. The story put the reader into the war to experience it with Frankie and her army buddies. Horrible. I am an American living outside the US in a peaceful country that lacks armed forces. I sleep well at night as a result.
