Historia
Jane Austen fan Amelia Bennett sneaks away from a dull tour of an English country manor, only to run into a man more dashing than Mr. Darcy himself. About to lose his ancestral home to family debts, charming aristocrat Tom Calder invites his American guest to join him in drinking his way through the estate’s priceless wine collection. But when they wake in his bed the next morning, they’re convinced that in their drunken haze they witnessed a murder. Problem is, the body has vanished and no one believes them.

Historia
Twenty-four-year-old Saeris Fane is good at keeping secrets. No one knows about the strange powers she possesses or the fact that she has been picking pockets and stealing from the Undying Queen's reservoirs for as long as she can remember. But a secret is like a knot. Sooner or later, it is bound to come undone. When Saeris comes face-to-face with Death himself, she inadvertently reopens a gateway between realms and is transported to a land of ice and snow. The Fae have always been the stuff of myth, of legend, of nightmares… but it turns out they're real.

Historia
Isla Crown has secured the love of two powerful rulers and broken the curses that plagued the six realms for centuries, but few know the true origins of her powers. Now, in the wake of a crushing betrayal, Isla finds herself hungry for distraction, preferring to frequent Lightlark’s seductive haunts instead of embracing her duties as the newly crowned leader of two separate realms. Worse, her fellow rulers haven’t ceded victory quietly, and there are others in Isla’s midst who don’t believe her ascent to power was earned.

Pretty bad
Revisado: 10-23-24
The more I think about this book the less sense it makes. It’s just sporadic things that don’t really contribute to the story line. Good narrator tho

Boring
Revisado: 01-16-24
Hard to tell what the main story line is supposed to be. Is it the war? Or is it the forbidden romance? Also Elloren sucks. Why did it take 4 books for her to finally be ready to be the main character heroine. Any of the side characters would have been much more interesting to follow as the main character.

Historia
Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College-Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky. Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is–unless she betrays the man she loves.

This book made me feel things - the narrator helped
Revisado: 12-26-23
Narrator was not sniffly at all. She did a phenomenal job conveying the emotion that the story was trying to evoke. The tempo and volume changes are what made it hard to put the book down. The way she was reading it would be exactly how it would have sounded in my own head, had I been reading instead of listening. I did notice some pronunciation inconsistency but that’s a small issue imo.
Story was phenomenal as well. I loved the use of modern vernacular and swear words. Lots of twists that make you feel like you’re learning information along with violet instead of as a third party watching it unfold and wanting to scream your own hindsight at her.

Predictable

The story is frustratingly predictable. The whole story feels like a woe-is-me when Sage gets reflective.
