Historia
Kate Hibbert is all too eager to lend a hand to her neighbors. Although she has been a resident of the sleepy village of Lochdubh for only a year, in that time Kate has alienated one too many of its residents with her interfering—and not entirely well-intentioned—ways. When Kate’s neighbor sees her lugging a heavy suitcase to the bus stop, he hopes that the prying woman is gone for good. But two weeks later, Kate’s cousin arrives in town with the news that Kate has gone missing.

Hamish has become a new man
Revisado: 09-06-24
You can definitely tell that there is a new person helping write these books. I’m not saying that it’s either good or bad, but Hamish has grown a backbone. There is also more action in this book which I am not a big fan of, but it wasn’t grotesque so it was fine.

Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Answers a lot of questions
Revisado: 05-10-23
There are always many sides to a story, but this open and honest account, answered a lot of questions for me. It is none of my business how anyone else lives their life but when they are constantly thrown in the public, one cannot help but wonder what is really going on. I appreciate the honesty about everything in this book.

Historia
To live in a pristine land unchanged by man... to roam a wilderness through which few other humans have passed... to choose an idyllic site, cut trees and build a log cabin... to be a self-sufficient craftsman, making what is needed from materials available... to be not at odds with the world but content with one's own thoughts and company. Thousands have had such dreams, but Richard Proenneke lived them.

Listened to this book probably 50 times
Revisado: 12-17-22
This book of Mr. Penikese writings was put together very well. I have listened to it more than 50 times and probably 100 or more. I first became interested in it when I saw it on a PBS special about 15 or 20 years ago. My dream to move to Alaska was fulfilled five years ago and here I am still listening to this audiobook. It has become like an old friend and when I can’t sleep, I listen to it, when I have nothing else to listen to, I listen to it, when I just want something to listen to, I listen to it. I don’t think you’ll regret this book. The narration by Norman date is superb as well.

Great book-Narrator needs to do her research
Revisado: 06-23-21
I really love Sue Henry books and I think that Lee Adams does a great job at narration. However, I live where this book takes place in Alaska on the Kenai Peninsula in Homer. It grates my nerves to hear the mispronunciation of many different places including Kachemak Bay and Kenai. it seems like common sense to me to perform some due diligence prior to narrating or reading any book for a public audience. I am hoping that future books will have proper pronunciation so that the book can be enjoyed as it should.

Timely and Surprising

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It did take lots of twists and turns and made it extremely interesting and enjoyable to listen to. The fact that it is set during the pandemic made it that much more relatable.

Historia
The youngest of her parents’ combined 21 children, Sarah Frey grew up on a struggling farm in southern Illinois, often having to grow, catch, or hunt her own dinner alongside her brothers. She spent much of her early childhood dreaming of running away to the big city - or really anywhere with central heating. At 15, she moved out of her family home and started her own fresh produce delivery business with nothing more than an old pickup truck. Two years later, when the family farm faced inevitable foreclosure, Frey gave up on her dreams of escape and took over the farm.

Background music is a nuisance
Revisado: 07-21-20
For some reason, the producers felt the need to include a classical type of music at random points of the book. It’s very distracting and irritating. The narrator is very good and my favorite actually. But I will be returning this book because of the irritating music. If I have an option to get this book without the music I would get it instead even with an inferior narrator. Removing the music would be an easy fix.

Historia
Nobody knows the people of Wooster, Ohio, better than switchboard operator Vivian Dalton, and she’d be the first to tell you that. She calls it intuition. Her teenage daughter, Charlotte, calls it eavesdropping. Vivian and the other women who work at Bell on East Liberty Street connect lines and lives. They aren’t supposed to listen in on conversations, but they do, and they all have opinions on what they hear - especially Vivian.

Historia
In A Fatal Winter, Max Tudor - Anglican priest, former MI5 agent, and village heartthrob - investigates two deaths at Chedrow Castle. But his growing attraction to Awena Owen complicates his case, as does the recent arrival at Chedrow Castle of a raucous group of long-lost, greedy relatives, any one of whom has a motive for murder. With a cozy setting, intricate puzzles, and a handsome (non-celibate) priest doing the sleuthing, the books in this series are destined to become instant classics in the mystery world.

Foul language ruined it for me
Revisado: 07-27-19
Narration is fantastic. The story was very good and it was very well written. This is, with the exception of the intro and end. For some reason the author felt it was necessary to have the village ladies throwing F bombs out several times in a row at both ends of the book. I would have happily moved on to the next mystery in the series had it not been for that. Not only was the language out of place and unnecessary, it was tasteless and shocking, considering it is supposed to be a book about a clergyman solving mysteries. Agatha Christie books have it all. Intrigue, red herrings, well- written story lines, and class. I guess I will have to stick to them.

Historia
Welcome to winter in Three Pines, a picturesque village in Quebec, where the villagers are preparing for a traditional country Christmas, and someone is preparing for murder. No one liked CC de Poitiers. Not her quiet husband, not her spineless lover, not her pathetic daughter - and certainly none of the residents of Three Pines. CC de Poitiers managed to alienate everyone, right up until the moment of her death. When Chief Inspector Armand Gamache, of the Sûreté du Quebec, is called to investigate, he quickly realizes he's dealing with someone quite extraordinary.

Why the f word?
Revisado: 08-26-16
Louise Penny is a fantastic author. So I don't understand why she feels the need to throw the f bomb around with frequency. It seems that it is used for no reason as it doesn't even make sense. Instead of adding to the story, it only makes it feel like the author is trying too hard when there is no reason to do so. If I had known this prior to listening to my first book and getting hooked, I would not have begun listening at all. Aside from that, these books are very well written and I thoroughly enjoy them.
