Historia
Fourteen-year-old Charlie Matters is up to no good, but for a very good reason. Without parents, peerage, or merit, ducking school but barred from actual work, he steals what he needs, living day-to-day until he’s old enough to enlist to fight the Germans. After barely surviving the Blitz, Charlie knows there’s no telling when a falling bomb might end his life.

Different but very good!
Revisado: 04-27-25
Quite the departure from Baldacci's usual story lines but very well done. A unique look into the war years of WWII London.

Greatest voice in the world of audio books
Revisado: 06-02-24
Heroes is another master piece! Wonderfully adapted and wonderfully read by Stephen Fry. I wish Mr. Fry could read every book on earth aloud to be recorded for posterity. A wonderful voice to listen to for hours on end. His voice characterisations are second to none. Thank you Stephen Fry for such an enjoyable experience!

Outstanding
Revisado: 04-29-24
I have enjoyed all of the Inspector Drake books but this is the best of the lot to this point. As usual, it is very well written. The character development continues apace and the usual attention to detail is accounted for. It's the story/plot line of this book that is a notch, or two, above. Outstanding!

Epic
Revisado: 01-15-24
A bold undertaking for a writer of thrillers. I was an avid Follett fan through the 1970s and 1980s before the publication of Pillars of the Earth. When this book came on the scene, I figured it had to be good as he was the author. I was not disappointed then and this well done audio production did not disappoint now. I have read all of Mr. Follett's books and have enjoyed each and every one. I am enjoying them all over again now as audio books.

Another excellent Inspector Lynley novel. No other author does the in depth research of a subject as does Elizabeth George. This novel covers another of life's really difficult topics and covers it very well.

Well written story but...
Revisado: 01-15-23
Absolutely great performance by the narrators of a well written story. But, the story is just that much implausible as to make it hard to go along with. It's not enough to change the fact that I'm a big fan of Baldacci's writing, though.

Historia
Totalitarianism is not a coincidence and does not form in a vacuum. It arises from a collective psychosis that has followed a predictable script throughout history. In The Psychology of Totalitarianism, world-renowned Professor of Clinical Psychology Mattias Desmet deconstructs the societal conditions that allow this collective psychosis to take hold. By looking at our current situation and identifying the phenomenon of “mass formation”—a type of collective hypnosis—he clearly illustrates how close we are to surrendering to totalitarian regimes.
