The performance of the book is atrocious

The content is pretty "duh". Nothing very unique or inspiring. It's more like a term paper on the Flexitarian diet, what makes it different from Vegetarian and Vegan and some of the basic health benefits. It bops back and forth between regurgitating research and broad generalizations, like "have you ever seen a fat vegan".

The performance of the Audible Audio book is atrocious. The narrator is a non-standard English speaker ("axe" instead of "ask" for example). She reads straight through it in the monotone way that children read out loud in class. There is no attempt to "present" the material. And, there were obviously no modifications made to the original material to make it more suitable for an audio book. For example, she makes references to pictures in the book that you obviously can't see when listening to an audio book. And, the audio quality is awful. The volume and sound quality are all over the place.

We know what the superfoods are. We know we should eat them. This is the book you read when starting a diet to inspire you to include these kinds of food in your diet. The author has a fantastic background that gives you confidence that she knows what she's talking about. She's a physician turned chef turned nutrition writer. She breaks down each superfood, explains their health advantages, then gives you a recipe on how to include them in your diet. I didn't write down the recipes and probably won't make them, but they did make me think about how I would use each food in recipes and food prep on a regular basis. It's a quick read and will remind you that healthy foods can also be delicious.

I'm not sure if this was written by a child or has been translated from another language. But the writing is horribly stilted and awkward. It's pretty distracting and makes it difficult to focus on the content. And, the narrator of the Audible book was just terrible. He obviously has no love for wrestling and I cringed every time he said "Chris Ben-oyt", "Kay-fab" and "Verne Gag-knee".

But, hidden in that muck are some great stories about some great wrestlers. Brock Lesnar's story made me hate him even more and Shawn Michael's perspective on the "Montreal Screw Job" really made me think differently about that whole set up. If you can power through the horrible writing, there are some gems there.

I love that this was narrated by Hulk himself. But, the storyline about Vince McMahon is pretty soft and comes across as highly "edited" and insincere. It feels like the Hulkster was trying too hard to get a WWE endorsement of his book to boost sales.
