These 48 lectures are your chance to relive the most groundbreaking moments in the fascinating story of the United States. They offer you a different perspective on the sweeping narrative of U.S. history. Spanning the arrival of the first English colonists to the chaos of the Civil War to the birth of the computer age and beyond, this lecture series is a captivating and comprehensive tour of those particular moments in the story of America, after which the nation would never be the same again.

Brilliant, Informative, Entertaining!
- De Quaker en 04-01-15
Informative overall with a sliver of bias.
Revisado: 01-03-23
Overall, the course is well worth the listen. Edward O'Donnell does an excellent job of highlighting important events in US history. My only negative point is that in a few of the latter lectures his "presentism" comes to light; that is he critics past events from the basis of early 21st century morality. For example, in the discussion of the civil rights movement he briefly refers to Amos and Andy as racist, thus projecting his contemporary moral into early 20 century events. On the positive side he makes up for it in his final two lectures dealing with the fall of the Berlin Wall and 9/11. Thus, I recommend this course as must listen to anyone with even a slight interest in the subject.

Historia
In Embodied Hope, Kelly Kapic invites us to consider the example of our Lord Jesus. Only because Jesus has taken on our embodied existence, suffered alongside us, died, and been raised again can we find any hope from the depths of our own dark valleys of pain. As we look to Jesus, we are invited to participate not only in his sufferings, but also in the church, which calls us out of isolation and into the encouragement and consolation of the communal life of Christ.

A must read for Pastors and visitors
Revisado: 05-17-22
Kelly Kapic highlights the need for the church to grieve and share our grief. In doing so we become His hands, His feet, and His vehicle for healing and enduring hurts of this temporal world. Adam Verne perfectly voices this book; his soft slow tone apropriately brings it to life.

Disappointing
Revisado: 03-07-22
when I began this course I hoped to gain some insight into contemporary American Lit, but it seemed that all selections were about sex; after listen to a few lectures he seemed to find sex in every author's work. Highly suspicious and thus disappointing.

Interesting and informative
Revisado: 12-31-21
while portions are appealing they are diminished by the author's apparent lack of research - specifically when dealing with issues or events regarding faith based history. For example she credits Henry VIII for reducing saint days when such decisions occured under Elizabeth I. Recomend a listen but carefully.
