Old enemies find common purpose.
Revisado: 05-26-17
Awake is a short story that takes place perhaps a few years after Hunters Unlucky. Arcove is forced to seek out an old enemy for advice when an unusual visitor arrives in Leechwood.
I enjoyed returning to this fantasy island of sentient, talking creatures. It was interesting to see how events had progressed and how relationships had changed.
If you have already listened to Hunters Unlucky, this is worth adding to your collection. If not, grab Hunters Unlucky first, it's an excellent story.
Narration is high quality, Rish Outfield again lending his voice talents to bring the characters to life.

hard to put it down
Revisado: 09-22-16
I enjoyed this book even more than the first. the drawn out storytelling lent suspense, though I guessed some of the surprises. I love the characters of Grim and Blackthorn, both are highly flawed and do not see their own self worth, but each sees the good in the other. Looking forward to more in yhhis series.

Historia
FitzChivalry - royal bastard and former king’s assassin - has left his life of intrigue behind. As far as the rest of the world knows, FitzChivalry Farseer is dead and buried. Masquerading as Tom Badgerlock, Fitz is now married to his childhood sweetheart, Molly, and leading the quiet life of a country squire. Though Fitz is haunted by the disappearance of the Fool, who did so much to shape Fitz into the man he has become, such private hurts are put aside in the business of daily life, at least until the appearance of menacing, pale-skinned strangers casts a sinister shadow over Fitz’s past...and his future.

slow story
Revisado: 01-26-16
I really struggled to finish this story. For a lot of the book very little was happening and it was mostly Fitz thoughts about things. Secrets that reveled towards the end seemed pretty obvious to me from the beginning, and it was only really the last third of the book where there was any action. I expect that the slower pace of the book may be more suited for reading rather than listening. The narration itself was quite good though. Still I am glad I got to end, as there was a twist at the end that promises to make the next books much more interesting.

Historia
Storm is born into a world of secrets - an island no one visits, names no one will say, and deaths that no one will talk about. The answers are locked in his species' troubled past, guarded by the fierce creasia cats. But when Storm's friends are threatened, he decides that he must act, pitting himself against the creasia to show that they can be resisted and outwitted. To prove his point, he must stay one step ahead of clever hunters, who have more to lose than Storm imagines.

Enjoyed so much, had to listen to twice
Revisado: 03-28-15
Where does Hunters Unlucky rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
The quality of this audiobook is very high, the story and narration are both excellent. I think this qualify as high fantasy as all of the characters are sentient animals, and there are elements of magic. There are several different and unique species, and this story is about the fall out of a war between two of them, with some interactions with the other five species. The story is complete as is, but I hope there will be more stories written in this world with these characters.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Hunters Unlucky?
Would involve too many spoilers, as all my favourite moments were either big reveals, or when characters had reason to change their opinions of others.
What about Rish Outfield’s performance did you like?
All the characters have different voices, even accents. Even if the names were not mentioned you would have known who was talking.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Would have listened in one sitting if I could, but it took several due to the length.
Any additional comments?
I actually started listening to this story on the author's podcast and was unwilling to wait months for the conclusion so I joined audible for this book. It did start out a little slow, but once it got going, I got dragged into the story and had to know what happened. I found it strange that the villain of the first part of the story actually became my favourite character by the end.
