Not sure how long (years??) this has been in my wish list. For some reason, I decided to give it a listen and I loved it and hated to put it down. The storyline, characters and narrator did an amazing job. Now I need to see if there is a sequel or series because it sure was worthy of a series. It was instantly engaging.

Am I the only one who feels Brick should be doing old timey radio? His narrations are offensively overblown to the detriment of the storylines. Why? Dial it back and let the storyline and characters (and author) shine - please!
Halfway through and still can't figure out if the narration is what is totally skewing the enjoyment factor or whether, despite that, the formulaic storyline and characters just are not resonating as they should. Not sure I can even finish or would have any interest in a book 2.

I generally like LaVoy's narration's - but, Lucy's voice, in particular, is comparable to Tom Cruise trying to portray Reacher - that's my best word picture! Marino's voice as well does not in any way portray character embodiment. I'm hoping to be able to finish this novel and overcome the fact that it is ruining my enjoyment of the entire novel. I, as a Scarpetta fan from book one, will not buy another LaVoy narrated one.
