A Wonderful narration and story!
Revisado: 02-01-18
Evanthia's Gift written by Effie Kammenou is an interesting novel based on its structure alone. The storyline begins in Greece in the year 1955 with a pregnant mother by the name of Anastacia. The book opens with betrayal and as Anastacia endures the troubles of her situation with the lasting effects of WW2, she finds she needs to make important decisions for both herself and her daughter (Sophia). Anastacia develops beautiful and engaging relationships and love interests that are excitingly passionate and at times heartbreaking.
This is currently Effie Kammenous only audiobook available at audible.com
This audiobook enters a second part which feels almost like the start of a new book all together. It jumps a generation and follows Sophia and Dean, a love interest since of Sophia since age of 12, as Greek- American teenagers.
The characters battle romantically and culturally as a storyline unfolds that spans 50 years and two continents.
The book is narrated by Emily Lawrence who is an accomplished narrator. She sounds comfortable behind the mic and has a dynamic range of narration tone and character accents that are especially enjoyable to the ear. Emily Lawrence currently has 35 audiobook narrations available at audible.com. The audio, simply put, is top quality. The storyline flows smoothly and effortlessly and the characters are easily distinguishable. The background is free of any extraneous sounds that may distract from the listening experience.
This audiobook came in at a lengthy 17 hours and 22 minutes in the contemporary fiction genre. The audiobook inevitably had slower parts, but Emily's voice acting ability even makes a sluggish part mentally stimulating.
This audiobook is almost 2 books for the price of 1 with the storyline and length. In the genre of contemporary fiction Audiobook Haven would conclude that this book is worth a listen!

A New World of Dragons!
Revisado: 11-30-17
The Fall of an Overlord written by Kevin Potter is a story that takes place centuries into the future that follows a world void of any and all humans. Dragons are left to rule the new world. “The Fall of an Overlord” is a prequel in the upcoming “Calamity series”.
The story follows the struggle of a needed shift in power, as the current ruling overlord has created quite the dictatorship. As with any repressed people, or in this case dragon, it eventually leads to the need to overthrow the ruler. The dragons seem to possess many of the character traits of the long lost human race which allows for a very dynamic and enjoyable character storyline.
This book is narrated by Scott Allen. He has a rich and powerful voice which couldn't be more ideal for this type of novel! He easily handles a range of character voices that are easy to distinguish and also easy to listen to. He is able to reign in the power of his voice for a soft and smooth storyline narration as well. Scott appears comfortable behind the mic already and currently has a total of 4 narrations available on audible. We will look forward to seeing that number grow!
The story is told well and captures the essence of a dragon society but the audio quality comes into question almost immediately. While the narrated story flows easily there are extraneous background noises here and there that can be slightly distracting. This would be the only negative mark that could degrade the listening experience of the audiobook, however, the story is captivating enough that the extra background noises are rarely noticed.
This audiobook comes in at just under 3 hours. With such a short run time it is often difficult to create a complete storyline but this isn't the case for this novel. Since it is a prequel, it sets up the next books in the series quite well. It takes a unique stance development of a world ruled by dragons! If you have a few hours to burn and enjoy Sci-fi & fantasy this audiobook is a good pick!

Revisado: 09-14-17
Any additional comments?
Secret Bride written by Sharol Louise is a witty, light hearted romance story. It follows Damion who suddenly needs to find a fiancé after receiving a letter from his Grandmother that she will has fallen ill and will be stopping by to see him in the next couple weeks. Damien wishes to please his dying Grandmother and sets out to find, and possibly hire, a fake fiancé.
This story was narrated by the talented Doro Jillings. As a narrator she has great delivery and charisma in her storytelling which brings out rich and vibrant characters. The audio quality itself is about average with some occasional background inconsistencies. it should be noted the inconsistencies did not detract from the listening experience whatsoever. Overall Doro handles male to female dialogue smoothly and discernibly leading to a fun and noteworthy performance.
Alix agrees to play the part after after Damion compromises and allows Alix to bring Elizabeth along, an orphan who eventually falls into line as her alleged sister. Alix and Elizabeth are off on their new adventure before they know it!. Alix is immediately accepted by some and rejected by others. She is filled with compassion and personality! She is a loving and intelligent character who has one of the biggest hearts imaginable.
I would like to note that the author does a fantastic job dealing with some scummy unlikely characters in a tasteful and just way... and of course.. love always finds a way! This audiobook comes in at Just under 8 hours and could easily turn a dull weekend into an exciting romantic adventure. Romance lovers don’t let this slip by.
