Historia
Mar is a transmasculine nonbinary teen pirate hiding a magical ability to manipulate fire and ice. But their magic isn't enough to reverse a wicked bargain made by their father, and now el Diablo has come to collect his payment: the soul of Mar's father and the entire crew of their ship. When Mar is miraculously rescued by the sole remaining pirate crew in the Caribbean, el Diablo returns to give them a choice: give up their soul to save their father by the harvest moon, or never see him again. But Mar refuses to make a bargain, and there's no way their magic is a match for el Diablo.

Came because of Gay Pirates, stayed for an amazing story, awesome narrator and Gay Pirates
Revisado: 11-18-23
I got this because of Vico Ortiz and because I have pirate brainrot due to Our Flag Means Death. I was not disappointed. Vico Ortiz is an incredible narrator and I will listen to anything they read! They story was great, a little slow at times but great world building. I need more!!

Historia
Cutthroat political consultant Thom Morgan is thriving, working on the governor of California’s presidential campaign. If only he didn’t have to deal with Clay Parker, the infuriatingly smug data analyst who gets under Thom’s skin like it’s his job. In the midst of one of their heated and very public arguments, a journalist snaps a photo, but the image makes it look like they’re kissing. As if that weren’t already worst-nightmare territory, the photo goes viral—and in a bid to secure the liberal vote, the governor asks them to lean into it. Hard.

It just peters out
Revisado: 02-16-23
I didn't hate it. There were parts that I really enjoyed, but a lot of it was very unrealistic. It has a good middle, but it seemed anticlimactic.

Only getting two stars because the end twist
Revisado: 10-22-22
Great idea, poor execution. The writing was so weird. it went back and forth from scree play to regular prose. The author tried way to hard to be clever. I rolled my eyes so much reading it that I'm surprised they arent rolled to the back of my head permanently. Just skip this book.

Here is the novel that will be forever considered a triumph of the imagination. Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Maud'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

Horrible Narration
Revisado: 08-12-22
I really enjoyed the story a lot, but the narration took me out of it. It kept jumping from a full cast to a single narrator and there was no rhyme nor reason for it. I enjoyed the book though.

He still holds out hope in a tiny corner of his heart, but even in his wildest dreams he never thought he’d meet the Crown Prince of England, much less do a lot more with him. When they meet by chance at an event Carter’s boss is organizing, Carter’s sure he imagined all that sizzling chemistry. Or was it mutual?

Campy and over the top. And I am HERE for it!
Revisado: 07-17-22
So I made a mistake while listening to the audio book: I read the comments. Which got me spiraling into questioning my taste in books because I absolutely LOVED this book! Is it for everybody? No. Is it perfectly written and absolutely flawless? Absolutely not. Is it realistic? Not completely but I wouldn't want it to be. One of the biggest reasons to read is to escape the monotony of real life and this book was a delightful escape. I laughed and "squeed" and "awed" out loud several times cuz I just couldn't help myself. All of the characters were over the top but I honestly didn't care. I do think that they could have given more depth and dimension to the characters but I had so much fun with them. Part of the reason being the narrator, Michael Urie, whose over the top impressions of the characters is probably what sold it for me. I also thought that the relationship between Edgar and Carter was adorable and I was rooting for them whole time. I think this book would translate better as a movie honestly with how campy and over the top it was but it was exactly what I needed and wanted. Overall, I loved it immensely!

Loved the story, Hated the music
Revisado: 12-17-21
The story was cute and the characters were fun. But I hated the music they chose for it. At times it was distracting and pulled you away from what was happening. if they chose something less poppy, I think it would have fit better.

Historia
In this classic fantasy novel from author Michael Ende, small and insignificant Bastian Balthazar Bux is nobody's idea of a hero, least of all his own. Then, through the pages of an ancient, mysterious book, he discovers the enchanted world of Fantastica, and only Bastian himself can save the fairy people who live there. Shy, awkward Bastian is amazed to discover that he has become a character in the mysterious book he is reading and that he has an important mission to fulfill.

Historia
August 1939: London is dismal under the weight of impending war with Germany as Hitler’s forces continue to sweep across Europe. Into this uncertain maelstrom steps Grace Bennett, young and ready for a fresh start in the bustling city streets she’s always dreamed of - and miles away from her troubled past in the countryside. With aspirations of working at a department store, Grace never imagined she’d wind up employed at Primrose Hill, an offbeat bookshop nestled in the heart of the city - after all, she’s never been much of a reader.

I liked it, but it's nothing special
Revisado: 11-19-21
It was enjoyable but it was king of slow. Very predictable. It felt like a Halmark movie: good but nothing remarkable. However, as a lover of books, I did love seeing Grace's own love for books grow. I loved how this book really shows how important reading can be.

Historia
When his mother became President, Alex Claremont-Diaz was promptly cast as the American equivalent of a young royal. Handsome, charismatic, genius—his image is pure millennial-marketing gold for the White House. There's only one problem: Alex has a beef with the actual prince, Henry, across the pond. And when the tabloids get hold of a photo involving an Alex-Henry altercation, U.S./British relations take a turn for the worse.

Loved the book, disliked the narration
Revisado: 11-07-21
Ok, here's the thing: I loved this book! It was interesting and it had me hooked from start to finish! It had a great plot, great characters that go through development, and the main characters had great chemistry. That being said, the narration was awful. He did not distinguish the different characters very well and at times it got very confusing. His British accent would come and go and it pulled you out of the story. I love audiobooks but this one you should just read in physical form. I think I would enjoy it a lot more if I had. However I still loved it and I highly recommend the book!

Made me feel unsettled in a good way
Revisado: 10-08-21
As I read the reviews for this book I realized that people either love it or they hat it. I loved it! it hooked my right from the beginning and it held me captive til the end. The ending really left me feeling unsettled, but for this book it's a good thing. It is a great Halloween read!
