I am eager to get to know Mortimer better. I shipped him and Bruce slightly for a second there cause their personalities seemed like they would be funny together.

I am REALLY excited to to read more about Mortimer to be honest. He's my favorite in this book and then it's Mr.Head Librarian, (of course he'd be a good dad). Bruce was getting up there too as a fave.

Frankly, I am also really curious on the dynamic of Irene and Noct. Noct is deadly but also the cutest and most softhearted out of everyone. Like what are some things they talk about him and Irene. And what IS going through Rupert's head or what went on when his cousin brought this relationship to his door.! Reminds me that I was really happy seeing more of the Endicott family, poor Ves.

On another note, this is my first tentacle read and damn. I don't blame Sebastian one bit WOO! GET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *SLURP*

The ending, the middle and the beginning. So many feelings

Strong Characters

I love this series and I love that it pointed out how much the world changed in hexworld history when it mentioned hex rangers and witch police.
The characters are strong in their own way and I really enjoyed that, nothing felt out of character for any of them. Even if you don't agree with the decisions they make, I see why. It makes sense.
I actually enjoyed that there wasn't much smut but rather love and mystery. Definitely trauma filled though.

I know there's gonna be more and I will just have to be patient.

The hardships characters have stood out most

I liked when they had their hardship, or how it was written, some stuff was unexpected and some weren't. I feel like this story could have had an unhappy ending and I would have been okay with it even though I prefer HEA or HFN stories. I would definitely like to dive into the universe more, there is so much of the other characters I would like to know about.


The narrator, could have gone different routes with the characters voices. I feel like, the way some things written don't come out right when it was voiced. Dex is an example.

I liked the part when they ran out of lube. I've never seen that before.

The characters!!

I love how distinct the characters are, KJC knows how to make the characters lead the book. The more you find out, the more unsurprising the actions feel. It's like getting to say " of course they would do that" or "of course they would feel this way" or even " I would feel the same way". I was yelling at this book, and hollering "beat they ass! Beat they ass!" Or "bitch no you fucking didn't!" ... This is a good book, extremely well written as always. I would relisten again. Audiobook was 10/10 and wouldn't mind purchasing the big so I can study character building.

The comingling of POVs

I love both characters and I love the bonds the have and the ones they make. I have a feeling there will be another book in the same universe and I love it. I never knew baseball could be so interesting.

It feels like you're stacking blocks

Note that I am titling it how it feels cause when there's a book that isn't simply a sequence of events although it kind of is but each sequence is an EMOTIONAL rollercoaster coaster ride, then all I can do is write how it feels.

It's an emotional ride.
Prepare to sob.

Well, let me metaphorically explain.
It feels like you are stacking, I don't know, a Jenga tower, and with the way the story goes, except each block weighs three times your weight. You can't really pick up 3x your weight offhandedly unless you do it continuously or situationally undergo an ( and remember metaphorical) adrenaline rush giving you that force to pick up and place the first block in it's place.

The "force" is the MC going through his first emotional situation, and you get the chance to realize just who he is at his core and understand why the block weighs as much as it does for him.

The story goes through all these moments but the more the blocks are picked up and placed, the taller the tower gets. You get the feel that each block is placed where it needs to be and not by coincidence but by , the mindset of the character, the heart and action.


I might understand that, yes, books usually go in this general direction, books with great character growth, but it feels heavier in this case and also , the MC is lead by his world and heart in the biggest way.

I really enjoyed this book, it's a heartbreaker. I 10/10 recommend if you like love stories in all the senses.

The Narrator. I love him. Will follow his other works. His art is purely amazing. Wear headphones, and not a , listen in the car type book if you can help it.

I love the recurring characters at times, and I now too, have a soft spot for Noct. He must be protected at all times.
I see also, the inspiration from Undertow 😉😋😏 Putting things to good use behind closed doors I see.

I didn't expect to like it this much

I like the whole dirty sensual book. And even though I'm a romance reader I don't usually go for the bottom shelf smut but I really enjoyed this one, I totally binged listening to it on audible. The narrator's were top tier and now I have a new author to follow. *When the suggestions hit*
I really teared up when the mom, well, if you read you will know but I understand narcissist parents well.

One thing that kinda threw me off sometimes is the age of the voice vs the age of the MC. But I will definitely re read this one.
